RSFA MEETING TUESDAY 17TH MAY 2011

MEMBERS PRESENT: Clare Storrow, Sue Thirlbeck, Zoe Worner, Claire Richardson, Rebecca Metcalf, Vicky Andrews, Debbie Blenkiron, Sarah Jackson.

Due to there being a new committee, the meeting was quite lengthy!

1. Apologies (received from: Alison Nicholson, Annie Burchnall, Julie Cooke, Sophia Mawer, Rachel Lambert &, Lucy Riley) Amanda Monteith has said that she wishes to no longer be on the committee but she is willing to still be a village rep and help out at events.

2. Treasurers Report –There is currently £2636 in the account, we will need to pay for Halloween Party, Xmas Presents and Annual Theatre trip.

3. Results of Questionnaire – 14 replies, 12 had attended events, 4 reserved tickets for Casino Night, reasons for not requesting tickets for the Casino Night were; no interest in Casino Night, no childcare, lambing and not interested in gambling. Event that people would be more likely to attend are; more family events, so childcare wouldn’t be an issue, BBQ, Disco and Quiz.

4. 100 Club – currently only has 45 members of which 3 are staff and 29 are students families. Suggest approaching pre-school, put a form out in Book-bags (Debbie) and leaflet drop round Ravensworth (Vicky) – Carry Forward

5. Easter Competition – was a huge success, and school would like to do something similar each year. Feed back from the children was that they had all really enjoyed it. Photo’s to be out in next Newsletter (Clare)

6. Fundraising Raffle – it was agreed NOT to do this at Christmas, may be October time. Mrs Alcock to be approached (Clare) and suggest a non-uniform day via payment of Chocolate which would then be a raffle prize (mini hampers). - Carry Forward

7. North Air Ambulance – 10 th June 2011 – Debbie to produce flyers to be distributed in villages via Village reps and also notes for parents to contact Clare or Debbie if they are unable to drop their bags in Ravensworth by 8:30 on the 10th June.

8. PTA Insurance – PAID and we have received a fundraising book which Clare and Debbie will look through for more ideas.

9. School Friends News – Clare will produce the next Newsletter to go out in June and ask Rachel if she would be able to get them printed off for us. Clare asked for anything that needed to go in the next newsletter and suggestions were to ask for Raffle Prizes to go into Charity Auction/Large prize raffle, ie. meals out, signed rugby ball (Vicky checking), any company connections requested for raffle prizes etc. Also suggested was to put in about Plimsolls & Football Shoes, School BBQ and 100 Club – Carry Forward 10. Plimsoll Exchange Box - doesn’t seem to have taken off very well so will be mentioned again In the Newsletter (Clare) and also include football boots. It was also suggested that we have a bucket at sports day and put a note out for parents to fetch in any plimsolls their children have grown out of and perhaps get a bigger size if there are any available. Debbie agreed to take responsibility for a Second Hand Uniform ‘shop’ with ALL proceeds going back to the school. Therefore requests please for outgrown uniform with some wear still in it. Anything deemed not suitable will be given to the Great North Air Ambulance collection. Debbie will collect any uniforms from school. – Carry Forward

11. Summer BBQ – date suggested 15th July 2011 – which has been confirmed by School. With Bar, Food, Events and Stalls. Julie to contact Mainsgill please. Jeff volunteered for Drinks/Bar. Licence (4- 10pm) – Debbie. Request that the school hall be tidied straight afterwards. Clare to speak with her brother Tony requesting music. Suggestions for kids entertainment: sumo suits/gladiator duel/obstacle course/bungee run/rounders/tug-of-war/5-a-side/cricket. Vicky to ask Dave to be in charge of sports. Regarding inflatables – Vicky to check Low Row Co., Rebecca to check Middleton- in-Teesdale Co. Decided NOT to include Cake Stall, Jar Sweets (guess how many) or sell strawberries. Check pricing of food as some complaints re price last year. Vicky and Sue to check prices and purchase Pimms equivalent. Clare to check with school if we can camp-over (Bacon butties?) – Carry Forward

12. New Starters Evening – 15th June: Vicky and Debbie to attend in order to encourage new parents to attend our organised events and also to encourage them to join the 100 club.

13. New Fundraising Ideas – Lots of new suggestions including: Mugs – with individual design Money Box – with individual design Fleece Scarf Fleece Hat Fleece Gloves Notepads Natural Shopping Bag Wooden Clock – with individual design Cotton Aprons – with individual design Mouse Mats – with individual design Cookery Book – Vicky to organise (suggest students write to a famous chef for a recipe to be included) Catterick Racecourse Collection Bag Pack at Morrisons or Tesco’s

14. New Event Ideas Car Treasure Hunt Sponsored Bike Ride and Dog Walk Christmas Fayre, (around beginning of November time) with stalls like; Virgin Vie, Aloe Vera, Avon, Bodyshop, Book Stall, Toy Stall, etc Pet Show Family Movie Night Family Quiz, Supper and Disco (starting around 6pm till 10pm) Family Fun Day to include; Picnic, Rounders, Cricket, Football, Tennis, etc (Non Profit) School Fete and Car Boot/Table Top Sale Food Competition (Best Dish for Adults, Best Dish for Kids, Chef to judge) Beetle Drive Race Night Year-long 1p, 2p & 5p collection in each class; Mrs Jackson suggested that this be for a separate specific charity, for example Special Baby Care Unit, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, etc. Need to get school to nominate a charity (Mrs Jackson) – Carry Forward
