PROFESSIONAL PROFILE:

I’m interested in studying genome evolution of parasitic organisms acting as causal agents of infectious diseases in humans and wildlife. My main focus is the evolution of multigene families as a potential mechanism for evolutionary adaptations; particularly, those involved in parasite- host interaction. Parasites of the genus Plasmodium spp. represent an ideal model organism for these studies due to their importance as a human health pathogen, complex life cycle and wide range of vertebrate hosts as wells as mosquito vector preferences.
