Greetings JPK Team

Sample memo to staff. As I mentioned during last Tuesday's faculty meeting, we will begin triangulating attendance, discipline, and academic data during your grade level Team Meetings next Tuesday, ------. We will provide you with grade specific student information by that needs to be discussed. In order for us to accomplish our goals, we will need you to:

1. Identify students on the attendance report that have missed more than 3 days. 2. Identify students on the discipline sheet that have been suspended out of school at least 5 days, or more 3. Identify students on the academic sheet that are failing a class, or have failed at least one SOL. 4. Once these students are identified, place these students in three separate levels in terms of need. For example: If John Doe is passing all of his classes, and has not been suspended from school, he would be in Level 1, because he only has attendance issues; but, Jane Brown will be at a Level 3 if she has concerns in all three categories. 5. Once the students have been placed in Levels, begin developing strategies that you can implement as a team to assist these students in needed areas. For example, you may want to have a parent-teacher conference as a team with a parent during grade level team planning. Or, you may be implementing a rewards system in class that has worked for a student that may work for all teachers in dealing with this student. 6. I would suggest that you begin developing strategies for targeted students at "Level 3" first, but if you see some quick wins with students at "Level 1 or 2", then by all means develop strategies for these students. 7. Develop a time line of when strategies will be put in place for students, and who will be responsible for making sure these strategies are implemented.

That being said, I know that this may be take some effort implementing, but we are now at the stage where this must be done in order to continue our push in becoming an exemplary school where all of our students are successful. We will work on these sheets during the next couple of team meetings to allow you ample time to evaluate your students. Please see me if you have any questions and thanks for all you do.
