Policy of Participation

Good Works, Inc.

HOMEOWNER PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES

We at Good Works believe that the most meaningful experience for everyone involved is achieved as all of us, volunteers and homeowners, join in an active partnership of participation. It is our mission to provide assistance at no cost as we work together with you to repair your home, while building meaningful relationships in the process. We do this as an example to you of the free gift Jesus offers to all of us – the gift of eternal life with Him. The Bible says: Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in…(Rev 3:20).

Based on our experience in providing a positive work environment in previous homes, we request your agreement to the following guidelines: . No smoking or use of illegal drugs or alcohol inside the home during workdays. . Participation of all family members is encouraged on workdays (as appropriate according to age, skill, and physical capabilities). . All family members awake and ready to participate (as appropriate) when volunteers arrive for the workday. . During the period of time when repairs are in process (usually 6-12 months), the home is to be maintained as a clean, healthy and safe environment. . During the workday itself, it is preferable, except with young children that TVs remain off. (Good Works reserves the right to cancel any workday either before or during the repair process if these guidelines are not followed.)

In addition to the above, we ask you to consider other ways in which you can be involved as well. The following are some of the ways in which homeowners and their family members have chosen to participate in the past (These are simply ideas and suggestions for you to consider.):

Serve drinks (iced tea, lemonade, water) Learn repair skills during the repair process Talk with volunteers Pray for Good Works Help with clean-up Volunteer at other homes Prepare for next workday Volunteer in the Good Works office
