Share our Success  05/04 Al & Alma Teacher Appreciation Breakfast went really well. Kristin ran it and will do next year also.  05/20 Westonka Fund-RUN. Cold but fun! 900 pre-registered any thinking maybe 200+ came out. High school was included this year. Hilltop has the Treasury for next year.

Principal Report School Updates (Scott Eidsness)  Wrapping up assessments. We will be in top 5 for math and reading in state. Has seen a lot of growth and learning.  Kids and teachers are still laser focused on learning and engaged while enjoying these last days.  Great time at Wolfe Ridge. Some renovations in process. Maybe combine weeks with Hilltop in future.  2 new Kindergarten teachers. Beth Schultz, Erica?

Board Reports President (Cindy Penner / Jennifer Callahan)  Elections for President, Vice President, and Secretary o Review By Laws for listing of officer duties. o President - Katie Christenson will co-president. Duties - running the meetings, Oversees coordination of the events - Event chair is really coordinating all the event stuff. There is alot at beginning of year. Meets with Scott about misc stuff. o VP – tbd. Duties - Mainly makes sure chairs are filled. Jump in as needed. Holly picked up additional stuff along the way. o Secretary – co-secretary Tracy Hvezda-Lehtola and Julie Forte Olson o Treasurer – Kristy. Pays bills, collects funds, deposits, balance checkbook. Tax reporting year end. Approx 5-10 hrs max a month o Volunteer Coordinator – Tirisha Dirks o Much of the communication happens between the board/officers but can we open it up to the chairs also. Group feels we need better communication to the larger PTA members. Maybe PTA email group to send out updates and meeting minutes. Suggestion to consider a note after meeting to all PTA members – thanks for coming, missed those that could not make it, etc. Add note to Friday News – link to PTA minutes. o Suggestion to make the meetings more personal. Share stories or funnies for the days/week.  Open chair positions – will put out a signup genius. PTA people 1st then to whole school. o BBQ needs chair o Homecoming needs chair o Games – Tracy Hvezda-Lehtola o Leah and Penny Sexton – skating nights o Scrip – Annette o Tina and Nick Reynolds – Spirit Wear  PTA meeting days for 2017-2018. Vice President (Holly Thumann) 

Treasurer (Kristy Litke)  Review Financial Report  Income similar to last year  Expenses added o $435 for headphones added o Yearbook expense o $100 added to budget for nurse supplies (mostly non-medical. Ex: saltine crackers, children’s pain reliever, etc.)  2017-2018 Budget Approval  We have $1000 to spend since we did not spend the $500 from last year.

Chairperson Reports  Labels for Education. Update from Mrs. Humbert on items to order from teachers.

Other Business  2017-2018 Calendar  Media Desk Quote - Skoro and Associates o Discussed ways to possibly raise money to cover. o Motion to approve15K for media desk. All members in attendance approved.  Pictures – Lifetouch was selected. They will provide more photographers. Need to review days for Lifetouch as they are not available on open house day.  Curriculum Overview – Suggestions to post PowerPoints and videos online. Create videos to capture curriculum information and post online. Each teacher represents their grade and makes a video for their curriculum. Grandview does this currently. Could be attached to schoology, link added to Shirley Hills Website and also sent via email with link to website.  BBQ - Consideration to connect Curriculum Overview (aka curriculum morning) with BBQ. Maybe option to do Curriculum overview, Lifetouch pictures and BBQ. Consider 3rd week of school?  Headphones – additional suggestions for options to purchase: o In addition to the donated headphones, provide ones that are better quality for sale…$5-$10? o Only provide the better quality headsets but charge for a portion and PTA picks up a portion. o Option for adding headphones on as a fee bundled with other beginning of year fees. Parent chooses to purchase at office or supply their own. Can also sell at open house, o When break can pay to purchase from office or get some. Send slip home for $3?  Yearbooks, everyone will get them and will do them on the last day. Sign up genius for volunteers. Vacationers can get theirs early. We will renew with Tree Ring and raise price from $16 to $18. Check with Hilltop on their prices.  Naturalists/environmentalist. Resource is connected to Three Rivers Parks. Would come into the classrooms and teach the curriculum for each week. Connects teaching to science units. Fridays all day for 42 weeks. o Cost is $13K for once a week all day. Garden will be extra. o $8400 from PTA, increase student fees up $10 per student. Then rest from Mike’s budget. Consider indicating book fair funds raised be put towards naturalist. o Kindergarten – box tops o Explore applying for a grant from 277 foundations.  Childrens’ concerts – Explore options to consider a live feed.  Waiting on decision for an arborist  Budget for behaviorist $2500 not included
