Skill training enables a maintenance specialist to do the job from the first day of employment. Certified Nursing Assistant Nurse Aide-75 hours (+24 hour employment lab) Cost $408 ( + books and supplies) Offered: Fall/Spring/Summer Semesters This course prepares the student to work in a nursing home, home health care agency, or group home and/or hospital. The first 45 hours of the course are held in a classroom/lab and the remaining 30 hours of clinical will be in a nursing home. You will give patient care under the supervision of your instructor. At the end of this course, you must take the Direct Care Worker registry written and skills exam to be eligible for employment Advanced Nurse Aide-150 hours (+24 hour employment lab) Cost $408 ( + books and supplies) Offered: Fall/Spring/Summer Semesters This course is designed for CNA’s who have completed the 75 hour state approved course. The course provides an opportunity to gain the additional competencies and clinical experiences needed to seek employment in a hospital. The first 45 hours of the course are held in a classroom/lab and the remaining 30 hours of clinical will be in a hospital. Job opportunities include, but are not limited to, EKG tech, Emergency Tech, Scope Tech, Surgery Tech, and OB Tech. The agency or hospital will provide additional training in these specialized areas. The student must provide proof they have successfully completed a 75 hour state approved CNA course Financial Services Academy (72 contact hours) Offered: Fall/Spring/Summer Semester Cost $749 Students will learn about call center/customer service business The course will include an introduction to the financial services industry by learning what employers expect, financial services terminology, corporate structure and ethics as well as the tools needed to advance in this industry. Upon successful completion of course, students will have opportunity to connect to employers who are hiring. Students must be able to pass a criminal background check prior to acceptance into class. Medical Office Billing (60 contact hours + 24 hour employment lab) Cost $599 Offered: Spring/Summer Semester You will learn the basics of beginning coding and medical terminology including the various types of health insurance, insurance terminology and medical terms along with proper use of CPT and ICD-9 codes for reimbursement of provider claims. This basic knowledge is an essential requirement for utilization of precise medical terms in patient charting, filing insurance claims, communicating with patients and health care providers. Medical Unit Clerk (76 contact hours + 24 hour employment lab) Cost $550 Offered: Fall/Spring Semester A unit clerk provides communications support and is responsible for clerical work on the unit under the direction of the registered nurse. This course provides training in the role and responsibilities with an emphasis placed on confidentiality and communication skills for professional health care providers, patients, and families. Students will gain knowledge of medical records, terminology, background information relating to health and diseases. They will become familiar with services for patient care. Class includes observation in a clinical setting. MIG Welding for Manufacturing (104 contact hours + 24 hour employment lab) Cost $2700 Offered: Fall/Spring Semester This course provides career development in MIG welding. It focuses on flat and horizontal position MIG (GMAW) on 1/8” thick plate/pipe on mild steel using pulse, spray, and short arc transfer. There is limited exposure to wire and stick welding. The class also includes an overview of Oxy-Acet & Plasma cutting. Phlebotomy (5 credits-13 weeks + 24 hour employment lab) Cost $665 + Book Offered: Fall/Spring Semester A phlebotomist draws blood from patients for diagnostic medical tests. Most phlebotomists are employed in hospitals. Students must attend information/registration session with Phlebotomy department prior to admittance to their program. Instruction will include communication skills between hospital departments, ethical and moral issues, and safety rules and regulations. The course will review a base knowledge of basic microbiology, disease transmission, asepsis, decontamination, instrumentation, preparation and packaging for sterilization in the central services/sterile processing department.
