LYNDEN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Bonnie Penner Witherall Memorial Scholarship This annual award was established in 2003 in honor of Bonnie Penner Witherall, a young missionary who was killed in Lebanon for the cause of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Distribution of Scholarship A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded each year. Additional scholarships may be awarded each year depending on funds.

Eligibility All graduating seniors at Lynden Christian High School who are interested in foreign missions and desire to attend YWAM, Teen Missions or another evangelical youth organization that is involved in outreach training.

Procedures Students must complete an application form and submit an essay on why they are interested in foreign missions.

Selection Process The high school principal and chaplain will evaluate the applicants and submit 2-4 applications to the parents of Bonnie Penner Witherall for final selection.

Award Presentation The award will be acknowledged at the LCHS graduation ceremony.

Scholarship Length of Term Mr. Paul Van Zanten will administer "The Bonnie Penner Witherall Scholarship." This award will continue year to year until further notice from Mr. Van Zanten.

Please attach an essay on the topic: "Why I am interested in foreign missions" and a recommendation from a teacher, youth worker, pastor or counselor.

This scholarship requires that applicants be evaluated on the basis of the content of the essay, recommendation, positive Christian citizenship, attitude, and drive and determination to be involved in missions. The applicant of this scholarship should demonstrate a strong love for Jesus and the willingness to share this love with others around the world. And Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.”

Return completed application to Mrs. Van Loo by April 23, 2015.
