The deadline for completing the application for scholarship opportunities that are coordinated by the Winston-Salem Foundation is April 15, 2010. Complete the application online at www.wsfoundation.org. One application can be completed for eligibility for most scholarships. 2009 STUDENT-VIEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM This program is offering $8,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year, community/junior college or career school. NATIONAL CO-OP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The Guide to the Best Co-op Colleges & Employers is available for seniors to review in the MT Guidance Office. The guide identifies the colleges/universities (Johnson & Wales University is included) that participate in co- op programs and provide scholarship opportunities ($6,000 per year for high school students). TEACH GRANT PROGRAM (http://studentaid.ed.gov/PORTALSWebApp/students/english/TEACH.jsp) Through the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, Congress created the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program that provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. If, after reading all of the information on this fact sheet, you are interested in learning more about the TEACH Grant Program, you should contact the financial aid office at the college where you will be enrolled.
