Soliloquy/Monologue assignment (due week of 21st), Vocab books – lesson 1 for homework. Read 28-32 for HW 9/14 Collect vocab HW, any questions over reading? Hw: finish Oedipus and take notes (light/lightness, truth, dark/darkness), listen to linguistics podcast: what is your relationship with language? 9/16 – Discussion: What is Your Relationship with Language? Questions over the end of Oedipus, veggie movie, finish Oedipus slideshow 9/17 – Continue language discussion and how it relates to vocab words. THANKSGIVING BREAK – rest up!

12/2 – Media discussion on World AIDS Day campaign posters. 12/3 – Book Pass/project trouble shooting. Pass back papers 12/7 – Discuss book pass, book for next Monday! Trouble shoot projects – they need to be turned on before winter break. Next unit: literary terms through fiction, poetry, independent reading. Looking ahead to the final: performance assessment with literary terms (more discussion and explanation to follow- after break). 12/10 – Pass back all papers and grade reports for Q2, assign lit term homework: fiction and poetry. 12/14 – Bridges presentation (guidance) 12/16 – Project presentations 12/17 – Project presentations 12/18 – Project presentations, Lit. term packet and discussion on homework, schedule for readings… WINTER BREAK – Phew.

Pause the reading for fiction and poetry anthologies. 1/8 – Substitute: study hall/reading of independent book 1/11 – Review of fiction/poetry, explanation of midterm assessment. 1/13 – Literary term search, listen and tell with lyrics 1/14 – continue lyric discussion… 1/19 – lit. term scavenger hunt (media, books, info texts). Collect journals, read short story… 1/21 – 1/26 – Review for Midterm Assessment 1/27 – Midterm Assessment 2/2 – Pass back journals and give grades for midterm/Q2 – any missing work?
