Operational Mentality of the Apostolic Church

OPERATIONAL MENTALITY OF THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH

By Pastor Adebola Samuel

The church as it is presently constituted and run cannot fulfill the heart desire of God. The church that will fulfill God’s heart desire is the one that is at the cutting edge of the purpose of God. One does not need a seer to know that we (The Church) are not fulfilling the purpose of God nor are we maintaining His testimony on the earth today. The church that is busy running her own programs and pursuing her own agenda cannot be seen to be at the cutting edge of God’s purpose on earth. Church life has changed, God has changed the church syllabus but it is shocking that most men running the churches have not been sensitive enough to pick this in the spirit.

God shifts gear in every generation. For example, when God commissioned Moses to lead His people out of Egypt, He gave him a rod but at the time of Joshua after him, He was to work with something else-the word of God (Josh 1:1-9). We also find that this is the message Jesus was passing across when He said in Matt 5:21-42; ‘You have heard that it was said to those of old………but I says unto you’ So every generation must press into God to received revelation that is relevant for their day.

We would do well to take note of this; that it is no longer as it used to be. The Church is no longer a matter of gathering together weekly, praying for blessing and looking for what to eat. God is raising a church of people who are individually connected to Him in their hearts and who live in the reality of this connection. God has sent us to raise people who will impact their worlds, governments etc through the power of this heart-connection. Dan 2:1-30; God gave Nebuchadnezer a dream revealing His plan concerning the kingdom of the world. The subject of this dream confirm the word of God in Rev.11:15, the kingdom of this world have become the kingdom of our God and of His Christ and He shall reign forever. Dan 2: 31-45 -the interpretation of the dream. In verse 44-45 we see God is setting up a kingdom that would consume all the kingdom before it. This kingdom is described as ‘a stone that was cut out without hands’, this kingdom will not be birthed or propelled by natural strength, wisdom and abilities. In the light of this, you will have a clearer understanding of John 1:12-13; “as many as received Him…who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh nor the will of man, but of God” These people are those that make up the kingdom that was described as a stone that was cut without hands. These kingdoms will surely become the kingdom of our God and of His Christ and He shall reign forever.

God is raising a people who will be His instrument to convert the kingdoms of this world to become the kingdom of our God and of His Christ and we are busy pursuing mundane things of this world, things that should be added to us as we pursue the heart desires of our heavenly Father. We misplace our priorities. The question now is; knowing who we are and God’s agenda for us, what manner of people should we be in the world? We must see ourselves as an alternative society, a counter culture to the perversion that is obtainable in our world today. A man like Mordecai saw himself as an alternative to the perversities of his days even though he was in bondage in a strange land( Esther 3:3-4). Daniel and his company were men who refused to be swayed by the culture of their environment. It was only Mordecai in Shushan, Daniel and co in Babylon but they recognized who they where and the weight of God’s glory that they carried inside them.
