Dear Parents and Carers s19

July 2016 Our Ref: EAH/PF16-188 Dear Parents and Carers, Firstly, I would like to welcome our new parents, those who have children joining us in September, to the Harlington family. I hope that this will be the beginning of a warm and supportive relationship with you and your children. The theme of the year at Harlington has been Scholarship, Passion and Inspiration, and as I write this I have been thinking of the Achievement Evening last night, which was a wonderful celebration of these qualities. I’d like to congratulate all of the students who received an award and thank all parents and carers for their support and encouragement this year. I have included a range of documents for your information, ready for next year  Term dates for next year  Arrangements for the beginning of term in September  A ‘Parentmail’ reminder - please be aware that we will be using this facility as a key parental information portal, so up to date mobile phone numbers are vital – thank you.  Uniform requirements and reminders  Our Behaviour for Learning Policy & Student Attendance Policy In September we will issue the Parent Handbook, and all of these documents are available on our school website. Please be aware that if there are any updates to any of these documents or policies, the updated version will be posted on the website. Please also note that our Truancy Call system, that calls you if your child has not arrived at school, is an 0845 number, so please do not disregard the call if it appears on your phone screen – thank you. I am pleased to inform you that we are fully staffed for September, and I hope that you will join me in thanking staff who are leaving the Harlington family – we wish them well in their future endeavours. I am delighted to inform you that we have a new Parent Governor. Mrs Ntefon has two children in Year 8, and brings a wealth of professional and parental experience to the Governing Body. We are always interested to hear from parents who can commit to being a Governor, and do please contact me at school if you are interested. Finally, I have been asked by the Local Authority to give you the following information about CCTV cameras outside schools: Improvements to Road Safety The council is installing CCTV cameras outside schools in Hillingdon this summer to ensure people do not illegally stop or park on ‘school keep clear’ zones. This is to support improvements in road safety for children. From the start of the new academic year in September, motorists who are recorded parking or stopping on the yellow zig-zag lines outside a school will receive a fine of £110 (£55 if paid within 14 days). Yellow zig-zag road markings at the entrance of schools are an important road safety feature, demonstrating that the area must be kept clear to allow an unrestricted view for approaching motorists and for children waiting to cross the road.

Once again I would like to thank parents and carers for their support this year, and I’d like to wish everyone a peaceful summer break. Yours faithfully,

Ms E A Horrigan Headteacher
