1. Write a paragraph, telling about a time that you visited a firehouse, or when a fire truck visited your school.

2. Make a list of other people that help people.

3. List things a fire fighter might use.

4. Draw a picture of a fire truck. Write a sentence under your picture telling your favorite part of the fire truck.

Introductions

1. Have pictures of a fire hat, boots, jacket and a fire engine. Ask child where you might find these items. Say today we are going to read "Little Squirt, The Fire Engine", and see what his day at the firehouse is like.

2. Ask child if they have ever visited a firehouse. Today we are going to read a story about a little fire engine and he does during a day at the firehouse. Its called "Little Squirt, The Fire Engine. Lets read and see what he does.

3. Show the child the cover of the book. Ask if they can guess what this story is going to be about. Say this book is called "Little Suirt, The Fire Engine", it's about a little fire engine and his day at the firehouse.
