Dear Families,

Christmas Season, the vacation and all the anticipation that goes with the season is in the air. Students enjoyed our celebration in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Monday; thank you to the Hispanic Society who provided tamales, pan dulce, and hot chocolate. Students are preparing for the Christmas Program, practicing for Las Posadas and trying to stay on track in the classroom. **********************TUITION RAFFLE****************************** As part of the evening’s festivities we will be holding a raffle. The prize will be the month of January tuition for one child. Tickets will be $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00 and will be sold that evening at the door. The winner will be announced that evening. Winner must be present. Science Fair: On March 8th all students will participate in the school wide Science Fair. All students will create a project that expands on the California State Standards for their grade level. Each project will consist of a display board, a written portion and an oral presentation. Students in grades 3 – 8 will prepare an independent project; students in K – 2 will work on a classroom presentation. Parents are invited to view the projects on March 8th. Packets were sent home with each child in grades 3 – 8 on Monday December 12th. The packet outlines the dates each step of the project is due and contains worksheets and rubrics that each student will need as well as a letter that is to be signed and returned. Please help your child follow the timeline for the project.

Student Counseling: Mary Star will again be able to offer academic counseling to students who qualify for Title 1 services. Services will be offered through Catapult Learning and the counselor will be on campus 2 days a week beginning in January. If your child is referred and qualifies a permission slip will be sent home to you.

Casa De Los Angelitos: Each year Mary Star students gather baby clothes and necessities to give to the young mothers at Casa de Los Angelitos. We present the gift the day before Christmas vacation. Mary Star families have traditionally been very generous at this time. See the attached flyer.
