COMMUNION AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Adapted from the Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapter 29) Minister: People of God - for what purpose did our Lord Jesus give us His Supper? People: Our Lord Jesus, on the night that He was betrayed, set up the sacrament of His body and blood, called the Lord’s Supper, to be observed in His church to the end of the world, for the never ceasing remembrance of His sacrifice by His death on the cross.

Minister: People of God - what will the Lord Jesus give you in His Supper? People: The Lord Jesus ratifies and seals all the benefits of His death to true believers, and gives spiritual nourishment and growth in Him. He helps believers to be dedicated fully to all the duties they owe to Him.

Minister: People of God - why is this supper called Communion? People: The Lord’s Supper is a pledge of our communion with Jesus, and of our communion with each other, as the members of His body, truly united as one living people joined to Him.

Dingwall & Strathpeffer Free Church is a Designated Scottish Charity: SC011143 welcome to DINGWALL & STRATHPEFFER free church God calls us to delight in Christ and to share His Hope. www.deep-river.co.uk Sunday – 14th March 2010 Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And the two of them went on together. (Genesis 22:7-8) For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. (1 Peter 1:18-19)

Led by God, we join together in joyful and reverent worship, seeking unity and maturity in Christ, preparing every believer to share and show God’s Hope as revealed in His Word.

A GUIDE TO COMMUNION Christian people visiting our congregation are most welcome to share with us in communion. Anyone wishing to come into membership this weekend is asked to speak to the minister, an elder or the welcome team. Jesus shared bread with his followers and commanded them to continue to remember his death by regularly sharing a memorial meal. This meal uses bread and wine as reminders of Jesus’ body and blood. Eating the meal symbolises Jesus giving up His life for us on the cross and our “taking” Jesus as our Lord and King. In our refurbished church building we serve bread and wine to all those seated downstairs. The Bible tells us to examine our life before we share in such a meal. (1 Cor. 11:28). If you are a Christian (someone who trusts in Jesus) this memorial meal is for you and will strengthen your faith. If you are not yet a Christian, you first need to find a living faith in Jesus. Ask Him to become your Saviour. Our sins are never a reason to stay away from the Lord, or from Communion. Instead, we are invited to turn from sin to Jesus in repentance. Those who do so find peace with God and should come thankfully to share in communion. Those not taking part in communion are asked simply to pass the bread and wine along the row to those seated nearby.
