JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Cleaning Operative SECTION: Estates and Facilities Section SCALE POINT RANGE: £7.65 per hour RESPONSIBLE TO: Cleaning Supervisor

Duties

1. To vacuum all carpeted areas.

2. To brush, mop and deck scrub non carpeted areas including stairs, landings, kitchen and toilet areas as directed.

3. To use scrubber/drier machine as instructed.

4. To use polisher machine as instructed.

5. To damp wipe and dust window sills.

6. To damp wipe, dust and polish furniture.

7. To clean pc screens.

8. To empty waste paper bins daily.

9. To clean sinks, toilets and shower areas and spray and wipe all hand contact surfaces daily.

10. To spray and wipe walls up to 3 metres.

11. To damp wipe doors.

12. To clean computer screens in public use.

13. To clean door glass and mirrors.

14. To burnish bright work.

15. To carry out specific spring cleaning duties as directed by the cleaning supervisor.

Personal summary

No qualifications required. Experience in provision of cleaning services preferred.

March 2014 KEY TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

HOURS OF WORK Monday to Thursday 3.00pm – 6.00pm Friday 2.00pm – 6.00pm

SALARY The appointment will be on the living wage allowance which is currently £7.65 per hour.

LOCATION The position will be based at the main site in Thurso,

PENSION You may be entitled to join the Local Government Superannuation Scheme. Further details are available on appointment.

ANNUAL LEAVE/ PUBLIC You are employed on a term-time contract and will HOLIDAYS not be required during college holidays. You will however qualify for a pro-rata holiday entitlement inclusive of public holidays.

REFERENCES/ MEDICAL ASSESSMENT/ PVG CHECK For external candidates appointment will be subject to references, PVG check and a medical assessment, all of which will be taken up after an offer has been made.
