WATERTOWN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT 14-4 JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Food Services Director

REPORTS TO: Business Manager

SUPERVISES: All food service personnel

WORKS WITH: Food Service personnel, building administration and classified personnel

QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate with a minimum of two years experience in food service, preferably food service management.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND HOURS OF DUTY: 10 month contract, 8 hour day with hours scheduled to meet program needs

JOB SUMMARY: Provides meals to school children who meet established guidelines and are nutritious and are served in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness and a personal and caring manner.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Plans, supervises and evaluates the nutritional value of menus and food preparation in the central kitchen 2. Supervises distribution and serving of meals in all district serving cafeterias 3. Purchases and maintains the inventory of all foods, supplies and equipment 4. Orders all government commodities for use in the Food Service program 5. Keeps patrons and the public informed of the menus and services offered by the school lunch program and promotes benefits gained by student participation in the program 6. Acts as the primary interviewer and makes recommendations of applicants for employment within the Food Service program 7. Works with administrators and student groups regarding preferred foods and makes every effort to incorporate these suggestions into the Food Service program in a manner consistent with federal, state and district policies. 8. Develops work schedules, job descriptions, and work plans for each staff member and oversees the compliance to those plans and schedules. 9. Prepares accurate invoices for payment to the Business Office 10. Inspects food service facilities and operations for the purpose of insuring all standards of diets, personal cleanliness, health, sanitation and safety are maintained at all times 11. Provides training to Food Service personnel to maintain high quality of preparations, delivery and serving of meals at all district serving sites. 12. Works closely with serving personnel to maintain accurate portion control in meeting federal guidelines 13. Maintain records of meals served to children and adults in accordance with federal, state and local guidelines. 14. Performs other duties pertaining to the Food Service program as designated by the Business Manager

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be determined in accordance with provisions of the evaluation policy and procedures of the board of education
