SQL 710 LAB 1A INSTALL GHOST IMAGE OF WINDOWS 2000 ADVANCED SERVER

To load ghost image of Windows 2000 Advanced Server: 1. Power off computer. 2. Insert removable hard drive and lock in using key. 3. Press Shuttle button near drive (to select removable drive instead of permanent drive) 4. Insert Windows 2000 boot disk into floppy drive. 5. Power on computer. 6. Observe messages and wait until message “Ghost Complete” is displayed.

Test logon to Windows 2000 Advanced Server: 7. Remove floppy boot disk from drive. 8. Power off computer. 9. Power on computer. 10. A signon screen will be displayed with a logon of Administrator. No password is required – just press Enter. 11. You may then have to restart the computer. 12. Power off the computer. 13. Unlock and remove hard drive. 14. You are now ready to start Lab 2 – install SQL Server. GUI MODE PART

1. When the Windows 2000 Server Setup wizard appears with a welcome screen, click Next (or wait 5 seconds to continue). 2. The Installing Devices page appears, informing you to wait while Setup detects and installs devices (the screen may flicker or go black during this part). 3. On the Regional Settings page, click Next. 4. On the Personalize Your Software page, in the Name box, type london and in the Organization box, type Seneca College and then click Next. 5. On the Product Key page, type the Product Key which is written on the front of CD case, and then click Next. 6. On the Licensing Modes page, in the Number of concurrent connections box, type 50 and then click Next. 7. On the Computer Name and Administrator Password page, in the Computer Name box, type london 8. In the Administrator password and Confirm password boxes, type password and then click Next. 9. On the Windows 2000 Components page, click Networking Services, and then click Details. Accept all default settings. 10. On the Date and Time Settings page, adjust the date, time, and time zone on your computer, and then click Next. 11. On the Networking Settings page, informing you that Windows 2000 is installing networking components and prompting you to choose typical or custom network settings, click Custom settings, and then click Next. 12. On the Networking Components page, open the Properties dialog box for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). 13. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box, click Assign IP address dynamically. 14. Click OK, and then click Next. 15. On the Workgroup or Computer Domain page, click Next to join the default workgroup. The Installing Components page then appears, informing you that Setup is installing Windows 2000 components. Then the Performing Final Tasks page appears, informing you that Setup is completing a final set of tasks. 16. On the Completing the Windows 2000 Setup Wizard page, click Finish to restart the computer. 17. Remove the CD.

SERVICE PACK SETUP

1. Press Ctrl-Alt_Del to sign on. 2. Enter password of password and press ENTER. 3. Insert the Windows2000 service pack 4 CD. 4. Double click on My Computer and on the CD drive E 5. Double click on Config(?) and then on W2KSP4_EN and wait for files to be extracted. 6. The License Agreement will display and click on I agree. 7. Click on Next. 8. Click on Do Not Archive 9. Click Finish and wait for several minutes. 10. Remove CD. 11. Turn off computer. 12. Remove the removable hard drive. 13. Push RM DEFAULT button by hard drive.
