SECTION 15446 MODULAR WATER STORAGE SYSTEM

PART 1 GENERAL

1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

1.A. Modular water management and storage system including the following: 1.A.1. Stacking modules, baseplates, and endplates. 1.A.2. Inspection chambers. 1.A.3. Accessories.

1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

2.A. System Includes: Integrated water management solution for stormwater infiltration, retention, detention, rainwater harvesting or firewater tanks. System includes inspection components with site specific configurability without special tools that allows high volume storage and high pressure jetting for cleaning and maintenance. All system components shall be from the same manufacturer to ensure compatibility with other system components.

2.B. Engineering Requirements: Provide adequate support for project design loads, excavation, subsurface conditions, testing, inspection, and safety requirements in accordance with design criteria below.

1.3 SUBMITTALS

3.A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

3.B. Product Data: For each system component to be installed including dimensions, loading and water volume capacities, operational characteristics, connections, and accessories.

3.C. Shop Drawings: 3.C.1. Include engineering, safety factors, specific gravities, atmospheric pressures, project specific loading conditions and capacities, system layout, components, and accessories. 3.C.2. Excavation and base preparation shall be provided in accordance with the shop drawings and Engineer's recommendations. 3.C.3. 15446-1 System shall be sized in accordance with national standards and hydraulic impact. 3.C.4. Unless otherwise shown on shop drawings, sub-grade excavation and preparation shall be executed in accordance with Earthwork drawings and Division 31 specifications. 3.C.5. Unless otherwise shown on shop drawings, sub-surface drainage materials shall be executed in accordance with Earthwork drawings and Division 31 specifications.

3.D. Closeout Submittals: Operation and maintenance data. 3.D.1. Provide instructions on operation, calibration, troubleshooting, and servicing equipment. 3.D.2. Include layout drawings of concealed elements, parts lists, and product data.

1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE

4.A. Manufacturer Qualifications: 4.A.1. Maintain ISO 9001 production facilities including quality management protocols for every production batch. 4.A.2. Minimum 10 years experience in work of this Section. 4.A.3. Successful completion of minimum of 10 previous projects of similar scope and complexity.

4.B. Installer Qualifications and Project Requirements: 4.B.1. Certified by the manufacturer with minimum 3 years experience in work of this Section. 4.B.2. Successful completion of minimum of 3 previous projects of similar scope and complexity. 4.B.3. Maintain factory-trained technicians on staff to provide field service and warranty work. 4.B.4. Installer is responsible for the following: 4.B.4.a. Tour, inspect and discuss condition of sub-grade, drainage structures and other preparatory work. 4.B.4.b. Review required inspections & testing procedures. 4.B.4.c. Review safety precautions relating to installation. 4.B.4.d. Use products manufactured or approved by the manufacturer. 4.B.4.e. Follow the installation instructions and other contract documents (shop drawings, specifications, approvals, configuration report and manufacturer's recommendations). 4.B.4.f. Use construction machinery described in the manufacturer's installation and maintenance instructions.

4.C. Excavation Safety: In accordance with OSHA requirements.

4.D. System components shall contain UV-stabilizer to be protected from sunlight exposure.

15446-2 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

5.A. Do not deliver system components until time needed for installation, and after proper protection can be provided.

5.B. System components shall be protected from damage during delivery. Protect system components from damage and corrosion.

5.C. Store system components on smooth surfaces, free from dirt, mud and debris.

5.D. Handle system components with forklifts and manufacturers recommended equipment during transportation and site construction.

5.E. Leave protective coverings in place until just prior to installation.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

1.B. Substitutions: Not permitted.

1.C. Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01600.

2.2 ECOBLOC INSPECT FLEX

2.A. Engineering design criteria: 2.A.1. Loading conditions shall be verified through compression tests during production. 2.A.2. Long-term resistance shall be verified in laboratory tests by a certified testing laboratory approved by the local jurisdiction. 2.A.3. System shall achieve equal lateral strength in every direction. 2.A.4. General limits of installation shall include safety factors. 2.A.5. System shall be able to achieve a maximal depth below grade of 16'-4.8" (5 m). 2.A.6. System shall be able to achieve a tank height of 15'-7" (4.75 m) in pedestrian loading application and 13'-9.4" (4.2 m) plus earth coverings for HS-25 vehicular applications. 2.A.7. Installed system shall meet design criteria without additional soil stabilization equipment and without Geogrid. 2.A.8. System shall be able to achieve sustainable life of 50 years including safety factors in accordance with the manufacturers operating guidelines. 15446-3 2.B. Storage Criteria: 2.B.1. System shall be capable of storing water products with specific gravity up to 1.1. 2.B.2. System shall be vented to atmospheric pressure. 2.B.3. System shall be capable of storing products identified in the manufacturer's current standard limited warranty. 2.B.4. Use and storage of critical biological and chemical ingredients or concentration shall be in accordance with the manufacturers current recommendations.

2.C. Material Requirements: 2.C.1. System shall be manufactured with first generation upcycled materials. 2.C.2. Long term properties shall be reported by laboratory tests.

2.D. System Module Capacities and Dimensions: 2.D.1. Gross Volume: 54.2 US gallons (205 liters). 2.D.2. Net Volume: 51.5 US gallons (195 liters). 2.D.3. Nominal Size: 31.5 x 31.5 x 12.6 inches (800 x 800 x 320 mm).

2.E. Connections: 2.E.1. Provide with perforated openings up to 8 inches (203 mm), and with adaptor plates for pipes up to 20 inches (508 mm). 2.E.2. Connections and perforated openings shall allow full drainage and venting of tanks. 2.E.3. Include manufacturer's EcoBloc Inspect flex base plates and end plates as recommended by the manufacturer.

2.F. Inspections: 2.F.1. Installed system shall allow inspection and high pressure jetting. 2.F.2. Installed system shall be able to move inspection devices inside structure.

2.3 ECOBLOC MAXX

3.A. Engineering design criteria: 3.A.1. Loading conditions shall be verified through compression tests during production. 3.A.2. Long-term resistance shall be verified in laboratory tests by a certified testing laboratory approved by the local jurisdiction. 3.A.3. 3.B. Storage Criteria: 3.B.1. System shall be capable of storing water products with specific gravity up to 1.1. 3.B.2. System shall be vented to atmospheric pressure. 3.B.3. System shall be capable of storing products identified in the manufacturer's current standard limited warranty. 3.B.4. Use and storage of critical biological and chemical ingredients or concentration shall be in accordance with the manufacturers current recommendations.

3.C. Material Requirements: 3.C.1. System shall be manufactured with first generation upcycled materials. 3.C.2. Long term properties shall be reported by laboratory tests.

3.D. System Module Capacities and Dimensions: 3.D.1. Gross Volume: 59.4 US gallons (225 liters). 3.D.2. Net Volume: 57.3 US gallons (217 liters). 3.D.3. Nominal Size: 31.5 x 31.5 x 13.8 inches (800 x 800 x 350 mm).

3.E. Connections: 3.E.1. Provide with perforated openings up to 10 inches (254 mm), and with adaptor plates for pipes up to 20 inches (508 mm). 3.E.2. Connections and perforated openings shall allow full drainage and venting of tanks. 3.E.3. Include manufacturer's EcoBloc Inspect flex base plates and end plates as recommended by the manufacturer.

3.F. Inspections: Installed system shall be compatible with modules that are inspectable.

2.4 ECOBLOC LIGHT

4.A. Engineering design criteria: 4.A.1. Loading conditions shall be verified through compression tests during production. 4.A.2. Long-term resistance shall be verified in laboratory tests by a certified testing laboratory 15446-5 approved by the local jurisdiction. 4.A.3. System shall achieve equal lateral strength in every direction. 4.A.4. General limits of installation shall include safety factors. 4.A.5. System shall be able to achieve a maximal depth below grade of 7'-4.6" (2.25 m). 4.A.6. System shall be able to achieve a tank height of 7'-4.6" (2.25 m) in pedestrian loading application and 4'-9.1" (1.45 m) plus earth coverings for HS-10 and HS-15 vehicular applications. 4.A.7. Installed system shall meet design criteria without additional soil stabilization equipment and without Geogrid. 4.A.8. System shall be able to achieve sustainable life of 50 years including safety factors in accordance with the manufacturers operating guidelines.

4.B. Storage Criteria: 4.B.1. System shall be capable of storing water products with specific gravity up to 1.1. 4.B.2. System shall be vented to atmospheric pressure. 4.B.3. System shall be capable of storing products identified in the manufacturer's current standard limited warranty. 4.B.4. Use and storage of critical biological and chemical ingredients or concentration shall be in accordance with the manufacturers current recommendations.

4.C. Material Requirements: 4.C.1. System shall be manufactured with first generation upcycled materials. 4.C.2. Long term properties shall be reported by laboratory tests.

4.D. System Module Capacities and Dimensions: 4.D.1. Gross Volume: 59.4 US gallons (225 liters). 4.D.2. Net Volume: 57.9 US gallons (219 liters). 4.D.3. Nominal Size: 31.5 x 31.5 x 13.8 inches (800 x 800 x 350 mm).

4.E. Connections: 4.E.1. Provide with perforated openings up to 10 inches (254 mm), and with adaptor plates for pipes up to 20 inches (508 mm). 4.E.2. Connections and perforated openings shall allow full drainage and venting of tanks. 4.E.3. Include manufacturer's EcoBloc Inspect flex base plates and end plates as recommended by the manufacturer.

4.F. Inspections: 4.F.1. Installed system shall be compatible with modules that are inspectable.

5.A. Engineering design criteria: 5.A.1. Short-term resistance shall be verified in laboratory tests by a certified testing laboratory approved by the local jurisdiction. 5.A.2. System shall achieve equal lateral strength in every direction. 5.A.3. General limits of installation shall include safety factors. 5.A.4. System shall be able to achieve a maximal depth below grade of 16'-4.8" (5 m). 5.A.5. System shall be able to achieve a tank height of 15'-7" (4.75 m) in pedestrian loading application and 13'-9.4" (4.2 m) plus earth coverings for HS-25 vehicular applications. 5.A.6. Installed system shall meet design criteria without additional soil stabilization equipment and without Geogrid. 5.A.7. System shall be able to achieve sustainable life of 50 years including safety factors in accordance with the manufacturers operating guidelines. 5.A.8. System shall be able to use as inlet, filter, inspection and choke shaft. 5.A.9. System shall enable free positioning within the EcoBloc system. 5.A.10. System shall enable easy access with a clear width of 23.6 inches (600 mm).

5.B. Storage Criteria: 5.B.1. System shall be capable of storing water products with specific gravity up to 1.1. 5.B.2. System shall be vented to atmospheric pressure. 5.B.3. System shall be capable of storing products identified in the manufacturer's current standard limited warranty. 5.B.4. Use and storage of critical biological and chemical ingredients or concentration shall be in accordance with the manufacturers current recommendations.

5.C. Material Requirements: System shall be manufactured with first generation upcycled materials and glasspfiber reinforcement.

5.D. System Module Capacities and Dimensions: 5.D.1. Gross Volume: 60.7 US gallons (230 liters). 5.D.2. Gross Volume: 113.5 US gallons (420 liters). 5.D.3. Nominal Size: 31.5 x 31.5 x 14 inches (800 x 800 x 355 mm). 5.D.4. Nominal Size: 31.5 x 31.5 x 26 inches (800 x 800 x 660 mm).

5.E. Connections: 5.E.1. Provide with perforated openings up to 8 inches (203 mm) for inspection access and

15446-7 matching with inspection lanes. 5.E.2. Shaft system shall have perforated openings up to 8 inches (203 mm). 5.E.3. Shaft system shall have perforated openings up to 12 inches (304 mm). 5.E.4. Shaft system shall have perforated openings up to 16 inches (406 mm). 5.E.5. Include manufacturer's Vario 800 flex base/cover set as recommended by the manufacturer.

5.F. Inspections: Installed system shall be compatible with modules that are inspectable.

2.6 ACCESSORlES

6.A. Connectors: 6.A.1. System modules shall be able to be interconnected with a modular clip system to create a stable, uniform system. 6.A.2. System modules shall be able to use connectors only for horizontal connections.

6.B. Geotextile: 6.B.1. Specific Weight: 6 oz/yd2 (200 g/m2). 6.B.2. CBR: 528.3 - 539.5 lb (2.35 - 2.40 kN). 6.B.3. Opening Width: 0 - 0.004 inch (0 - 100 µm). 6.B.4. Water Permeability: 1268 - 1427 US gpm (80-90 l/m2s).

6.C. Adaptor Plates: for pipes up to 20 inches (508 mm).

6.D. Venting Ends: 4 inch (101.6 mm) pipe.

6.E. Choke Drains: 6.E.1. 4 inch (101.6 mm) choke drain with flow rate of 0.26 to 1.72 US gallons per second (1.0 to 6.5 liters per second). 6.E.2. 6 inch (152.4 mm) choke drain with flow rate of 0.53 to 4.22 US gallons per second (2.0 to 16.1 liters per second).

6.F. Geomembrane: 6.F.1. Basis of Design: PE-HD-Geomembrane. 6.F.2. Minimum Thickness: 0.08 inch (2 mm).

2.7 SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL

7.A. Assemble and test system in factory prior to shipment to Project site. 15446-8 PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 INSTALLATION

1.A. Install system components in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and approved Shop Drawings.

1.B. Arrange equipment so that components requiring removal or maintenance are readily accessible without disturbing other components. Arrange for clear passage between components.

1.C. Connect to utility supplies and equipment.

1.D. Do not bury component deeper than manufacturer's recommended depth or in a manner that would exceed engineering loads.

3.2 CLEANING AND PROTECTION

2.A. Clean and protect system in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
