Human Digestive System Poster Project

Step 1: You and your partner will need a sheet of Bristol board, a set of digestive system cutouts, glue, scissors and coloring pencils.

Step 2: Identify each organ in the cutouts and use the following color scheme to color each part of the digestive system: stomach (orange), liver (brown), esophagus (purple), salivary glands (green), pancreas (yellow), small intestine (red), large intestine (blue), tongue (pink) and teeth (leave blank or color white).

Step 3: Cut out each part of the digestive system and assemble it. You need to make sure each organ is connected the proper way. There are also a few cutouts that go on top of some of the organs. Once you think you have your system assembled ask your teacher to check it before you begin gluing it to the Bristol board.

Step 4: On the top of your Bristol board write the title “The Human Digestive System”. Draw an outline of a body around your digestive system.

Step 5: Label each part of the digestive system. Under each label provide a description of the function of each part of the digestive system. You may also include any facts you have learned (i.e. the length of an organ or the time food spends there).

Step 6: There is one small organ that was not included in the cutouts that plays an important role in the digestive system. Identify it and draw it in its proper location on your diagram. Label it and include a description of its function.

Step 7: Clean up and pass in your poster along with this sheet. Make sure your names are on this sheet and your poster.
