Congress extended an excellent charitable planning opportunity for both 2008 and 2009. This act permits an IRA owner age 70½ or older to make a direct transfer of up to $100,000 to charity.

The IRA Charitable Rollover allows otherwise taxable distributions of up to $100,000 during each taxable year, from a traditional IRA or Roth IRA, to charity to be excluded from gross income.

The IRA rollover is an exciting tool for qualified individuals. It offers a unique vehicle for donors to meet charitable goals and improve the quality of life for generations throughout the Missouri Ozarks.

Individuals need to consult with their tax professional for further information concerning the IRA Charitable Rollover.
