Schmitz Cargobull AG The golden mean
Horstmar, April 2016 - Schmitz Cargobull has added another variant to its range of rounded steel bodies, with a side wall height of 1,560 mm.
The S.KI SOLID tipper semi-trailer with rounded steel body also receives an additional variant. The new model in the 7.2 series is a body with a height of 1,560 mm designed for the European and, in particular, the French market. Customers can choose from three different side wall heights.
The smallest body has a side wall height of 1,460 mm. In addition, there is also a variant with 1,660 mm. The new body design embodies the "golden mean". With a volume of approximately 26 m3, the body has a capacity of two to three cubic metres more than the smaller model.
"In France the maximum permissible total weight for five-axle semi-trailer trucks is 44 tonnes. This capacity can be better used with a side wall height of 1,560 mm. That is why we expect a greater demand here," states Frank Reinartz, Head of Product Management in Gotha.
The new model also has its own advantages in comparison to its ‘big brother’, such as its weight, for example. The side walls are approximately 60 to 80 kilograms lighter. It is available with plate thicknesses of 3.2, 4 and 5 mm. In addition, the middle variant also has a lower loading height. This significantly reduces the amount of damage resulting from wheeled loaders.
