Fact Sheet Week of October 15, 2012

1. We need your help with our habitat! Our rescheduled workday will be on Saturday, November 10 th. Please join us from 8:00-11:00 am, if you would like to support our efforts to upkeep the habitat area. Staff members from Bayou Bend will also be joining us, so please come out and lend a hand as we work to beautify our campus.

2. As a reminder, please do not leave any valuables in your car, including the trunk during arrival and dismissal times. Remain vigilant at all times; if you see something, say something.

3. We are proud to participate in a drug-free national event – Red Ribbon Week. Please see the enclosed flyer for additional information.

4. Coach Zeringue would like to invite everyone to the Marathon Kids Kick-off Celebration o When: Saturday, October 20, 2012; 10 am o Who: Marathon Kids (Durham students) and families o Why: To celebrate the ceremonial start of Marathon Kids and earn your water bottle; Durham students run daily at recess to reach their goal of 26.2 miles by the end of the school year o Where: University of Houston’s Tom Tellez Stadium; 3100 Cullen Road, Houston, TX o Fee: Free For additional information, please email Ms. Zeringue at [email protected].

5. Our Character Day Parade will take place on Friday, October 26th at 1:30 P.M. Students are encouraged to dress as a character from a story, and bring the book to school with them. If the book is not available, students can design a book cover, and walk with their drawing. Each teacher will need a parent volunteer to assist with candy distribution. If you are available to volunteer, please let your child’s teacher know. Please arrive on campus by 1:00 PM to check in with the main office. Please note that siblings will not be permitted to attend the parade. If you do not want your child to participate, please notify your child’s teacher in writing.

6. We would like to thank all of our parent volunteers who have given generously of their time to assist with arrival and dismissal, campus beautification, AR, maintaining our library, Tuesday folders, Fall Festival, and reading to our students. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

 Friday, October 19th – College-bound Friday; wear your college shirt  Week of October 22nd – Red Ribbon Week  Tuesday, October 23rd – PTA Fundraiser – Chick-Fil-A Night (I45 and Crosstimbers)  Wednesday, October 24th and November 14th – Early Dismissal; all students will be dismissed at 1:00 PM.  Friday, October 26th – Character Day Parade (Students dress as a character from a book and bring the book to school), Report Cards  Saturday, October 27th – Fall Festival  Week of November 5th – Book Fair  Friday, April 26th – Buddy Field Day As always, thank you for choosing Durham as your school of choice.

1. Necesitamos su ayuda con el hábitat. Nuestro día reprogramado será el sábado 10 de noviembre. Por favor de unirse con nosotros de las 8:00 hasta las 10:00am, si le gustaría ayudar con limpiar y mantener el jardín. Habrá miembros de Bayou Bend, para asistir y embellecer nuestra escuela.

2. Un recuerdo, por favor no deje los objetos de valor en su coche, durante la hora de llegada y salida. Siempre estén atentos, si ve algo, diga algo.

3. Estamos orgullosos de ser parte del evento nacional: Drug- Free/ Cinta Roja. Por favor de ver el folleto para información adicional.

4. Coach Zeringue quiere invitar a todos para la Celebración del Maratón para Niños.

 Cuando: sábado, 20 de octubre 2012; 10:00am  Quién: Niños del Maratón (Estudiantes de Durham) y familias  Por Qué: Celebrar la ceremonia de Niños del Maratón y recibir una botella de agua; estudiantes de Durham corren diariamente durante el recreo, para llegar a la meta de 26.2 millas antes del final del año.  Donde: Universidad de Houston: Tom Tellez Stadium; 3100 Cullen Rd. Houston, TX  Precio: Gratis

5. Nuestro desfile de personajes será el viernes, 26 de octubre a las 1:30pm. Estudiantes puede vestirse como un personaje de un libro, y traer el libro con ellos a la escuela. Si no pueden traer el libro, pueden dibujar la portada del libro y caminar con su dibujo. Cada maestro necesita un voluntario que pueda ayudar con la distribución de dulces. Si puede ser voluntario, por favor de informar al maestro de su hijo/a. Si puede ser voluntario, llegue a la escuela a las 1:00pm para registrarse en la oficina. Por favor, tenga en cuenta que los hermanos menores no se les permitirá participar.

6. Queremos dar las gracias a todos los padres voluntarios que han dado generosamente su tiempo para asistir con la llegada y salida, embellecer nuestra escuela, AR, mantener la biblioteca, carpetas del martes, Festival Otoñal, y leer a los estudiantes. Gracias, Gracias, Gracias!

7.
