Format for Evaluation

Task 1: (15 marks)

Task I consists of Part A and Part B. Please remember to keep to the deadlines.

A) Selecting a Topic (5 marks)

1. Read ‘Choosing a Topic, Writing a Research Proposal’ p.140 – 142 (Sourcework).

2. Then work on Activity 4 (p.144: Sourcework).

3. Narrow down a topic of your choice.

4. Explain your interest in the topic and create two possible research questions you would like to answer in your paper.

5 B) Getting to know about journal articles – Internet or Library Search (10 marks) Select 6 articles related to a theme of the topic of your choice and for each of the article, answer the questions that follow. a) When was the article published? b) Name the journal in which the article was published. c) What is the name of the publishing company? d) Is there an asterisk after the writer or one of the writers’ name? Do you know the meaning of the asterisk? (NB: Answer only once for this question) e) There is a list of keywords after an abstract of an article. Why is it important to have keywords in an article? (NB: Answer only once for this question) f) What are the different sections that you can find in each of the article? List them. g) In which section do you find the statement of the problem? In less than 50 words, summarize the statement of the problem. h)What is/are the objective(s) of the study? i) What are the research questions of the study? List them. j) In less than 100 words, explain how the content of the article can help to deepen your understanding of the theme that you have chosen.

Task 2: Writing Exercise (20 marks)

Choose a theme from your topic and write a literature review of the theme. Your writing should include the following: 1) A discussion which is supported from other sources (Ensure that you know how to cite the sources taken). Tips: Your readings for Task 1, Part B could help you in this exercise.

2) Have several sub sections in your writing

3) A comprehensive reference list according to the APA style of referencing
