St. Mary Catholic School Catholic School Council Meeting February 6, 2017

Summary:

1. Meeting commenced at 6:30pm with the Opening Prayer.

2. Chair/Co-Chair  Scoreboard Review . 2 quotes were obtained - Scoreboardman ($8,419.25) & OES ($5,700). We will be going with OES. . Caging is optional and an additional $900 which we will do at a later date if need be, but seems unnecessary for elementary level . ETA is approximately 3 weeks  Shrove Tuesday . Pancake Tuesday will occur on Tuesday February 28th . Council members and parent volunteers will be at the school starting at drop off to make pancakes . Fr. Mark will be in attendance to bless our chapel and joy in the celebration

 Starlight Festival . The Starlight festival will be held on June 1st, 2017 and council is currently contacting various vendors and food trucks o Food trucks booked – Italian, S.W.A.T, Venezuelan Food truck, Blue water creamery (Unconfirmed – Beaver Tails, Mexican Food Truck and Peppa Greek) o Vendors will be asked to display allergies and “may contain” signs to inform the school community o Entertainment booked – Photo booth, Magician, Balloon artist, juggler, carnival games and DJ. . Council is working with Loyola high school to source students as volunteers to possibly run games like tug of war, soccer, sac races etc  End of Year Video presentation . Starlight festival will be the kick off for the 5th anniversary . Parent dance off video discussed

3. Principal’s Report  Math Night . 436 parents/students (130 families) are registered for math night . Every family will get a swag bag that supports math learning . Math consultant from the board will be present for an introduction . Families will go to 2 rooms based on the ages of their students. Each room will have games and puzzles to solve . Prizes will be given out the next day (Various math games were purchased

4. Committee Discussions  Focus on Faith . New alter has arrived . Plack for prayer room will be arriving shortly . Paintings throughout the school will commence in the next few weeks  Curriculum . Family Math night will be Thursday, February 16th at 6:30pm  Environment/ Parent Engagement . Discussed Shrove Tuesday outstanding items list 5. Meeting concluded with the Closing Prayer
