Costume Rentals Intern Maine State Music Theatre Costume Rentals, located in Brunswick, Maine, rents musical theatre costume packages to all performing arts organizations large and small throughout the US, and is now expanding into prop and scenic drop rentals. Associated with Maine State Music Theatre, MSMT Costume Rentals is a year round, non-profit off shoot of this well known seasonal professional music theatre. MSMT Costume Rentals seeks a hardworking theatre enthusiast who is a currently a student or a recent college graduate to fill a 9-month internship position beginning in September 2011 and ending May 2012. Desired Skills or Experience 1. Interest and some knowledge in historical clothing styles and a willingness to learn. 2. Basic knowledge of costume construction: must be able to read patterns, hand sew and machine sew fairly well 3. Possess creativity and design talent 4. Ability to lift boxes of 50lbs or more and carry costumes of varying weight Internship Responsibilities May Include: 1. Report directly to the Rentals Manager 2. Assist Rentals manager with preparing all costume rental packages for shipment 3. Assist with inventory and restock of all costume returns 4. Assist with the necessary build/rebuild, maintenance and labeling of costume pieces, and the organization of the stock. 5. Transport costumes to and from stock to theatre offices and dry cleaners with vehicle Application Process: To be considered for an internship position at MSMT Costume Rentals, applicants are asked to submit the following information: 1. Current resume (can be more than one page.) 3. Two letters from academic or professional theatre references. 4. Three pictures of three different costumes applicant has built and/or designed.
