The Master of Science in Statistics requires solid preparation in both calculus (generally three semesters) and linear algebra along with some preparation in statistics. In order to be sure you are well prepared we are asking you to specifically list the courses that you have taken in these topics. The topics we are inter- ested in are differential and integral calculus through multivariate calculus including multiple integrals, partial derivatives and change of variables for multiple integrals as well as linear algebra including matrix algebra, determinants, systems of linear equations, inverses and eigenvalues and eigenvectors for sym- metric matrices.

In order to succeed in our program, we are looking for Bs (not B-) and As in these courses though early low grades may be overlooked if subsequent courses show satisfactory performance.

Statistics courses do not have to be taken in a Statistics department.
