_ From the PASTOR *********************************************************************************************************************** Not Why, but What

My health may fail and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.

Psalm 73:26

When God is breaking you, he is really making you into a stronger person who understands your own weakness your reliance on God alone. When times get hard and things feel like they’re falling apart, we instinctively ask why. We want to know why God is allowing us to hurt, why God doesn’t make things better or easier.

Instead of asking why, we should be asking what. What does God want to teach us? What does God want to show us? What does God want to change in us? What is God’s ultimate purpose in this pain?

We can leverage our brokenness as a way of leaning into God but we often have to choose to do so, and choose whether or not we will allow God to actually humble us. And I’ve got good news for us: even if the source of your humiliation is self-inflicted, and there is something shameful in our life that brings us low, God can use that too. It’s just the way the kingdom of God works. Everything that is humbled will one day be exalted. As Jesus said, “whoever wants to save their life must lose it by giving it to God.” (Mark 8:35).

I will leave us with this quote by an unknown source: Suffering is God’s surgery that leads to health when we respond by faith.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Paul

Snooper Sez. October is here and it is getting chilly outside. Time to start thinking about moving back in the church. One good thing about moving inside is the CATS will not be chasing us all over the river bank!
