Indiana Youth Soccer Association President Job Description

Title: President, Chairman of IYSA Board of Directors

Purpose

The President is the senior volunteer leader of the Indiana Youth Soccer Association and presides at all meetings of the board of directors, the executive committee, and other meetings as required. The chair is an ex officio member of all committees of the organization. The board chair oversees implementation of corporate and local policies and ensures that appropriate administrative systems are established and maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

 Works with the Executive Director, board officers, and committee chairs to develop the agendas for board of directors meetings, and presides at these meetings.  Appoints volunteers to key leadership positions, including positions as chair of board committees and task forces.  Supports annual fund-raising with his or her own financial contributions. Recognizes his or her responsibility to set the example for other board members.  Works with the board of directors and paid and volunteer leadership, in accordance with IYSA bylaws, to establish and maintain systems for:

o Planning the organization's human and financial resources and setting priorities for future development. o Reviewing operational and service effectiveness and setting priorities for future development. o Controlling fiscal affairs. o Acquiring, maintaining, and disposing of property. o Maintaining a public relations program to ensure community involvement. o Ensuring the ethical standard.

Elected By: IYSA membership at the Annual General Meeting

Length of Term: Elected in 2002 for two year term, beginning in 2004 this officer will serve a three year term

Time Commitment: Negotiable to meet the requirements of the IYSA Qualifications

 A commitment to XYZ and its values; an understanding of XYZ's objectives, organization, and services, and the responsibilities and relationship of paid and volunteer staff.  Knowledge of and influence in the community.  Ability to understand concepts and articulate ideas.

Reports to: Board of Directors

Support: Executive Director

Budget Support

 Travel and maintenance  work space  telephone  postage  computer equipment  costs of conferences and conventions.

Title: President and Chairman of the IYSA Board of Directors

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Be directly responsible to the board of directors for the administration of the association.  Preside at all Board of Directors meetings.  Preside at all Executive Committee meetings.  Serve finance and other committees as appropriate.  Appoint Officers and District Commissioners with board approval.  Appoint committee chairs and members as necessary and delegate committee activities, with board approval.  Serve as the official representative and spokesperson of IYSA. This includes representing IYSA at Region II, US Youth Soccer and US Soccer meetings and events.  Sign all contracts into which IYSA enters. All such contracts must first be reviewed and approved by the IYSA Executive Committee. Responsibility may be delegated to the Executive Director.  Provide a report at each board meeting of his/her activities since the previous board meeting.  Perform any other duties that are necessary for the successful execution of IYSA's mission.
