SUBJECT: HUMAN RELATIONS SCHOLARSHIP

The Alliance of Asian Pacific Administrators (AAPA), Association of Jewish Educators (AJE), Council of Black Administrators (COBA), and Council of Mexican American Administrators (CMAA) have joined together to sponsor scholarships for selected high school seniors.

The scholarships are awarded to eligible seniors who have, beyond the norm, demonstrated leadership in promoting intergroup/intercultural relations and/or have through their actions, significantly reduced intergroup tension at their school and/or community.

Eligible students must have maintained a minimum 3.0 Grade point average, grades 9-12. The one-time scholarship of $2,000 will be awarded to students upon submission of proof of enrollment in a college or university.

Enclosed is one copy of the scholarship application materials; feel free to duplicate them as needed. The deadline for application submission is Friday, March 9, 2012.

Please submit a personally composed typed essay of no more than two pages (double spaced) describing what you personally have done to promote positive intergroup relations at your school and/or in your community.

D. Verification of Grade Point Average

Applicants must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 for grades 9-12. The applicant’s grade point average must be verified by: 1. a copy of the applicant’s transcripts or 2. a letter of verification on school letterhead signed by the Principal and/or the Assistant Principal, Student Counseling Services
