DESCRIPTION
This is agricultural work in all occupations not listed separately. This includes performing and/or coordinating a variety of procedures, and techniques in an agricultural program; recording and analyzing data; and maintaining and operating machinery, trucks, and assorted equipment.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Performs a variety of procedures in field or greenhouse experiments involving planting, fertilizing, cross-pollinating, obtaining samples, and harvesting plants and crops.
Transplants, graphs, propagates and treats plants of all types and varieties within project guidelines.
Determines nematode and insect populations, survey fields for spray coverage, and rear nematode and insect colonies for future laboratory use.
Prepares samples for laboratory analysis, mounts specimens, maintains laboratory equipment, and completes basic statistical analysis on data related to agriculture.
Maintains detailed records on agricultural experiments.
Operates and performs routine maintenance on a variety of equipment.
Fumigates fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and nursery stock.
Constructs pest detection devices.
Surveys and inspects citrus groves for detection of plant pests.
