Promoting Club Events

On the District Website and District Facebook Pages

Clubs are encouraged to promote Club Events on the District Website and on the District Facebook Page according to the following criteria.

DISTRICT WEBSITE EVENT PAGE

Clubs which subscribe to ClubRunner, may promote Club events of interest to other Rotarians or to the general public by inputting the information on the Club’s ClubRunner site under Events 2.0. Be sure to select “Show in District Event Calendar?” If an event is of interest only to Club members then the box for “Show in District Event Calendar?” should not be checked. Putting events not of general interest on the District’s Event Calendar makes it difficult to read.

DISTRICT WEBSITE HOME PAGE

Clubs may promote Club events of interest to other Rotarians or to the general public by sending an email with details of the event to [email protected] for posting on the District’s website. Information may include a brochure or a flyer and should be sent three or more weeks prior to the event. Events will be included on the website based upon the event’s appeal to other Rotarians and the general public. Space is limited and there is no guarantee that a particular event will be promoted in this manner. Consideration will be given to whether or not this is the Club’s signature event or not. The webmaster may edit submitted content.

DISTRICT FACEBOOK PAGE

The District has a Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/RotaryDistrict5190 that is open to the public. Clubs are free to promote their events and to recognize their achievements by posting information on this page themselves. This may include flyers prior to the event and photographs taken at an event. Clubs should exercise restraint regarding the length of a posting. If appropriate a link may be provided to an external website. The Public Image Committee and the IT Committee have several Administrators who monitor this Page and will remove any inappropriate postings.
