Head-to-head: This is the second of six meetings on the year between the Wolf Pack and the Hershey Bears, top affiliate of the Washington Capitals, and the first of three Hershey visits to the XL Center. The Bears won the first encounter of the season, edging the Wolf Pack 4-3 on October 29 in Hershey. Steven Fogarty had a pair of goals for the Wolf Pack in that game, and Chris Bourque and Wayne Simpson had a goal and an assist apiece for the Bears. The Wolf Pack were 3-4-1-0 in an eight-game season series vs. Hershey last year, and were 2-2-0-0 in home action against the Bears. All-time vs. Hershey, the Wolf Pack are 27(W)-22(L)-2(T)- 3(OTL)-1(SOL) in 55 meetings, and 12(W)-12(L)-2(T)-1(OTL) here in Hartford.

Wolf Pack Notebook: The Wolf Pack (7-9-2-1, 17 pts., .447) dropped a 7-3 road decision to Bridgeport last night in their last action. Adam Cracknell scored his first two Wolf Pack goals in that game, and now has points in back-to- back games (2-1-3), for his first point-scoring streak in a Wolf Pack uniform. Steven Fogarty had the other Wolf Pack goal, his fourth of the season. Adam Chapie assisted on Fogarty’s goal, for Chapie’s first AHL point of the year, and Ryan Gropp registered his first career pro assist on that tally. John Gilmour also had an assist last night, stretching a point-scoring streak to three straight games (1-2-3), which ties a personal pro high. He also has at least a point in five of the last six games (1-4-5). Alexandar Georgiev made 30 stops in net, in his sixth start in the last seven games and ninth in the last 12.

Bears Notebook: The Bears’ (8-9-0-2, 18 pts., .474) last action was a 2-1 home loss to Springfield on Wednesday night. That was Hershey’s second straight defeat, after wins in five of their previous six games and a 7-2-0-1 record in their previous ten. Dustin Gazley scored the Bears’ only goal in that game, with Liam O’Brien and Jeremy Langlois picking up the assists. Pheonix Copley made 25 saves, in his fourth straight start in the Hershey net, and seventh in the last eight. O’Brien now has a four-game point-scoring streak (1-3-4) and at least a point in seven of his last eight games (3-4-7), after being held without a point in his first seven. Former Wolf Pack Chris Bourque leads the AHL in points and assists, with 7-18-25 in 19 GP.

Mats Zuccarello had the game-winning goal 37 seconds into overtime, and Chris Kreider got the other Ranger tally. Henrik Lundqvist made 40 saves. New York is back on home ice tomorrow afternoon (2:00), hosting Vancouver, and then Florida visits the Garden on Tuesday night (7:00).
