Please keyboard your answers into this document using as much space as it takes to fully answer each question. Being a word document, the space below each question will expand as you type, pushing the rest of the questions farther down the page.

Once complete, please upload to your ePortfolio. Remember, the Graduate Teaching Certificate requires that you have attended and reviewed six pedagogical workshops or seminars.

1. Explain the central topic and purpose of the workshop/seminar. What are the presenter/facilitator’s goals for this workshop? This workshops purpose was to provide an introduction to online course design, address concerns about online curriculum, and provide tips and tools for instructors wanting to either design an online course or to integrate online curriculum into their campus classes.

2. What information in the workshop/seminar was most valuable to you? In this workshop, I believe the presentation of a variety of tools to make the online learning environment more engaging was the most valuable. As face-to-face instruction is heavily depended upon in traditional classroom settings, I needed resources and advice on how to best meet the needs of the students. Additionally, the workshop facilitators provided numerous options for engaging the students (e.g., skype, discussion boards, video). This workshop also provided insightful perspectives on accessibility of online courses to everyone.

3. How will you connect that information to your own pedagogical endeavors? Most importantly, the online tools and alternative methods for instruction presented in this

Teaching Certificate Workshop/Seminar Review Form Page 1 workshop were the most beneficial to me. In my own pedagogical endeavors, I will now have these resources to incorporate into both my online courses as well as traditional classroom instruction. I am always searching for novel ways to teach, and I believe these tools will help me in this. Also, I am not more aware of accessibility issues in both online and traditional courses, and I will work to make all of my courses materials access to everyone.

4. After attending this workshop/seminar, what additional information would you like to seek about this subject? After attending this workshop, I would like to seek out additional tools to help in the online environment (e.g., microphones for recording lectures, Itunes University). I would also like to seek out additional information on the challenges students perceive in the online course environment and their perceptions of online courses.
