FEBC Prayer Target

September 2017

Friday, September 1 – Please pray for the health of Sopheary Hem, FEBC’s Director in Cambodia. Sopheary is taking a medical leave to receive care for a serious health issue. Pray, too, for Sopheary’s husband and 2 young children during this challenging time.

Saturday, September 2- “I asked God to help me find your broadcast and having found it, I am now a regular listener,” writes a man from Myanmar. “I feel so blessed when I listen to your messages and meditate on them. God is indeed a wonderful God, as you have shared.” God is indeed at work around the world!

Sunday, September 3 – For 15 years, Open Doors has ranked North Korea the most oppressive nation in the world for Christians. But no nation is closed to God or FEBC’s radio signals. Pray for our broadcasts to reach even more people in this isolated country that offers them the hope that only God can deliver.

Monday, September 4 – Please pray for the safety and wisdom of our engineers and riggers as they maintain FEBC’s transmitters and shortwave radio towers in Bocaue and Iba, Philippines, which help us broadcast to 83 ethnic people groups around the world.

Tuesday, September 5 – One of our listeners from Thailand, Mrs. Pranee, told us: “Your program, Heart Friend, is a good friend because I live alone. Nowadays I listen and laugh. The program has changed my life and I have a reason to live, thank the Lord.” Many listeners tell us that our broadcasters feel like old friends who they come to trust. And trust goes a long way to helping them embrace Jesus as their Savior.

Wednesday, September 6 –Please pray for FEBC’s president, Ed Cannon, who is traveling to Bangkok and Chiang Mai this month. Pray for safety in travel, good health and productive meetings.

Thursday, September 7 – In China where there are so few seminaries, FEBC fills the gap through our Liangyou Theological Seminary, an on-air, 2 year rigorous program. Most students are juggling work and study in order to serve underground churches. Pray for wisdom for our students and safety, as it’s getting more and more challenging to profess one’s Christian faith in China.

Friday, September 8 –“Your radio programs are an honest friend. I am being encouraged and supported through your messages,” writes a listener from Mongolia. Pray for our multi-station team, led by Batjargal, who are committed to sharing the Gospel in this remote nation. We currently have 10 stations and hope to establish new ones in the near future.

Saturday, September 9 – The majority of Kyrgyz people are Muslim, but their practice and understanding of Islam is minimal. Pray that our new stations in Kyrgyzstan will introduce them to the love of Jesus and a new generation of believers will take root in this Central Asian country.

Sunday, September 10 – Please pray for an end to the violence and conflict in Yemen. Pray for new believers and people who contact our Reality Church program. Pray also for our Yemen team and for the networks of local believers who are bringing food and medical supplies to those impacted by the conflict.

Monday, September 11- In June, FEBC Cambodia hosted a Marriage and Family Seminar in Kampot Province to teach participants how to maintain healthy, godly relationships. Twenty two married couples attended, 19 singles, and 12 children. Each family also went home with a book called Strengthening Family. We also cover similar material in a weekly program, to encourage healthy families. Pray that those who attended will put into practice what they learned.

Tuesday, September 12-. Praise God for the launch of our newest radio station in Eastern Ukraine, located in Nikolaevka, close to the conflict zone. Pray that our messages of hope found in Christ will resonate with our listeners and help them navigate current difficulties, as well as find assurance in the knowledge of everlasting life with Jesus.

Wednesday, September 13 – Our Thailand team was overjoyed to receive 6,000 shortwave radios in June. Several ethnic people groups were waiting for immediate distribution. Please pray that listeners will consistently tune into FEBC broadcasts and respond to the Good News of Jesus. Pray, too, for staff who undertake challenging journeys to deliver many of these radios. Thursday, September 14 – FEBC broadcasts in 105 languages and dialects 365 days a year, with a potential listening audience of 3 billion daily. Pray that God’s Word will stir in the hearts of listeners and lead them to Him.

Friday, September 15 – “I live with my parents because my company went on strike. I was ruined and my wife left me. I fell into a deep depression. One day I tuned into FEBC-Korea. I’ve been listening for a year and have learned the life of faith, which helped me overcome my depression. Whenever I’m alone, I listen to FEBC and I always find favor in God’s sight.” We’re so grateful for stories of changed lives, like this one from South Korea. Praise God! Saturday, September 16 – With an international ministry like FEBC’s, travel is a necessary part of day-to-day responsibilities for some of our staff. Meeting with field directors and listeners, distributing radios in remote regions and attending important meetings helps us “be close to the listener,” as well as oversee the launch of new stations, troubleshoot transmitter issues, and strategize next steps, just to name a few concerns. Please be in prayer for the safety and health of our staff who must travel. Pray, too, for their families while they’re away.

Sunday, September 17 – We recently received the good news that our FM application for the city of Talas, Kyrgyzstan was accepted and we’re now just awaiting the frequency. We’re one step closer to launching this radio station in 2017, our 4th in Kyrgyzstan, a culturally Muslim nation.

Monday, September 18 –Chinese authorities recently published "Religious Affairs Regulations,” which states that all religious activities must register and take place at officially censored locations, and doctrines and teachings of Christian churches must adapt to "socialism core values." The future situation for many house churches and millions of Christians is quite uncertain. Please pray for our Hong Kong team and all believers in China struggling with these new laws.

Tuesday, September 19- Pray for our FEBC-Indonesia team located near Jakarta, who is responsible for 7 FM stations throughout the country, as well as broadcasts in 6 ethnic languages transmitted by shortwave from the Philippines. Pray, too, for FEBC’s new leader in Indonesia, Jusak.

Wednesday, September 20 –Pray for the ongoing construction of FEBC South Korea’s newest FM station building on Jeju Island. An October 2017 dedication is planned. FEBC Korea has played a key role in the Christianization of the country under the leadership of Dr. Billy Kim.

Thursday, September 21 – Pray that our staff in Pakistan can continue to produce life- changing broadcasts transmitted via shortwave, which is the only way to share the Gospel in this predominantly Muslim country. Pray for our new director, Saleem, his staff and all Pakistani Christians who are struggling with increased violent attacks against them. Pray for the Lord’s protection.

Friday, September 22 – A listener from India recently wrote: “I’m an elderly lady and find it difficult to commute to church every Sunday. Yet I have a good time with the Lord when I listen to your programs, such as ‘Worship Time.’ It allows me to worship God right here in my house. I praise God for this program.” We, too, praise God for all that He is accomplishing through FEBC. We thank all our ministry partners for the important role they play in this ministry of sharing the Good News among the nations. Saturday, September 23 –Radio is a vital communication tool in many areas of the world, especially in emerging nations. According to a report by the Asian Media Information Center, “radio is the most widespread medium in Cambodia,” where FEBC has been broadcasting for years. Across the ministry, FEBC not only produces 842 hours of programs per day, we also distribute thousands of radios to people who otherwise would not be able to purchase their own.

Sunday, September 24 –FEBC is a founding member of First Response Radio, which delivers critical information, via radio, to affected communities in the immediate aftermath of natural disasters. Within 72 hours, a team of specialists establishes a temporary radio station to deliver critical news such as where to find shelter, medical care, food, and loved ones, as well as messages of comfort and hope. Please pray for First Response team members located throughout the world.

Monday, September 25 – Andrey from Russia wrote: “I’m not a Christian but I listen to and like your programs.” Please pray for Andrey and many like him to be open to the truth of Jesus Christ. We’re grateful for the role that FEBC plays in the lives of many, sharing the Good News that changes lives forever!

Tuesday, September 26 – Perhaps Lola from Russia was once like Andrey above, who found our programs online. She shared: “As I listened to your broadcasts, my life began to change. You actually care about me.” We thank God for using FEBC to continually draw people to Him. Pray that Lola will grow in her walk with the Lord.

Wednesday, September 27 – Please pray for our team in Kazakhstan who has patiently awaited a radio frequency from the government for years. Meanwhile, they share their broadcasts online and have developed a strong following.

Thursday, September 28- Pray for FEBC staff around the world who serves God through this worldwide ministry. Pray, too, for our faithful ministry partners who stand beside us, supporting and praying for the work God has placed before us. Please pray for more ministry partners to assist in this critically important role.

Friday, September 29 – “We’re so happy to report that FEBC programming has brought forth many great results,” writes a listener from Vietnam. “Many people have come to know Christ and many families have repented. We’ve grown in our spiritual lives with much depth through your lessons and sermons.”

Saturday, September 30- Praise God for our powerful radio transmitter located in South Korea that allows us to reach Japan, East China, East Russia and all of North and South Korea. North Korean defectors tell us that many listen to our programs because it’s the only station they can hear. Pray that the signal remains clear and many are able to find hope through our broadcasts.
