Programme Management:
Deliverable: To lead the implemention the TfaC Malawi’s portion of the Health Communications for Life (HC4L) Project ensuring the project is evidence based, co-ordinated, high impact and cost effective
Plan and oversee the delivery of the TfaC Malawi’s portion of HC4L project in accordance with Organistional Strategy to ensure all external log frame, milestones and internal Key Performance Indicators are met.
Develop new programme management initiatives to support the effective and quality delivery of the of project.
Ensure that all project activities operate within all policies and procedures of the organisation and comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards.
Lead the writing of management and donors reports relating to the project ensuring all reports are submitted in a timely and quality manner.
Identify and evaluate risks associated with the project and take appropriate action to control the risks
Budget hold, authorise and monitor project spend ensuring complete compliance with donor regulations. All spend must be in line with the contracted budget variance allowable rate. Value for money must proritised in all spend decisions.
Work with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) department to ensure the project has effective MEL frameworks to assess the strengths of the programme and to identify areas for improvement
Ensure MEL continuously informs the project implementation and design Human Resource Management: Key deliverable: To oversee the HR management of the TfaC Malawi Health Communications for Life (HC4L) Project staff
Ensure that all relevant yearly appraisals/performance management processes and target setting are carried out.
Line manage relevant staff in line with the TfaC Malawi human resource guidelines and policies.
Support other relevant staff to line manage staff in line with the TfaC Malawi human resource guidelines and policies.
Ensure effective coordination of human resources policy and initiative across the project
When needed lead recruitment and interviews to select well qualified new staff/ volunteers for the project and ensure they are effectively inducted.
External relations:
Key deliverable: To lead TfaC Malawi’s donor, government and external stakeholder relationship relating to the Health Communications for Life (HC4L)Project in Malawi
Work with the Country Director to take a lead role in building/fostering relationships with the donor, government ministries and other partners and stakeholders relating to the project.
Lead the process of mapping and continuously updating the mapping of other related interventions in the project districts to ensure no duplication of efforts and effective coordination with other project interventions
Ensure the project is linked to all relevant working groups and networks
Essential Requirements
Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. Sexual and Reproductive Health, Behaviour Change Communication)
5+ years experience managing large multi district projects delivered in line with set time bound milestones
Experience managing multi million dollar project budgets
Extensive experience effectively managing diverse teams with a proven track record of successful capacity development
Experience working with USAID Strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation frameworks, log frames and milestone tables
Passion for sexual and reproductive health, achieving gender equality and safeguarding children
Fluent spoken and written English and Chichewa
Desirable Requirements Experience in theatre for development
Experience producing interactive radio
