Health Foundation of South Florida Position Opening: Program Officer

Position Overview

Health Foundation of South Florida seeks an exceptional individual with strong program design, implementation and leadership skills to join its program team. This individual will work closely with the Associate Vice President of Programs, Policy and Special Initiatives to further develop, implement and track the performance of funding strategies. The successful candidate will effectively collaborate with Foundation staff and system stakeholders to co-design and carryout solutions to our region’s most pressing health related problems.

Core Responsibilities

. Lead in the investigation of evidence based public health interventions . Assess grant proposals; monitor and provide consultation to grant funded projects; report on proposal and grant status . Assist in the research, design, implementation and assessment of the Foundation’s priority funding areas. . Assist in the design and management of strategic initiatives for the Foundation. . Actively participate in selected local and regional initiatives focused on community health and system improvements

Related Duties:

 Develop, manage and assess performance of strategies within priority funding areas  Determine the appropriate scope of potential Foundations support  Assess the alignment between identified funding opportunities and Foundation strategy.  Identify and capitalize on synergy between Foundation strategies within and across priority funding areas  Identify and capitalize on leverage opportunities between Foundation strategies and those of other stakeholders  Identify where and how best to modify Foundation strategies to improve performance  Make presentations to Board of Directors and other stakeholder groups; inform communication and policy efforts with regard to priority funding areas  Stay current on the literature and trends with regard to the strategies and funding opportunities within priority funding areas  Develop and maintain strong relationships with key partners Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 Demonstrated knowledge of health care delivery and payment systems and public health.  Knowledge of the grantmaking process  Demonstrated ability to establish strategy, develop work plans, multi-task and deliver quality work on time  Strong project/program management skills with demonstrated experience managing large, complex projects connecting a variety of stakeholders  Strong analytic and critical reasoning skills  Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, easy-to-understand concepts  Public speaking and presentation skills, including experience presenting complicated subject matter to non-expert audiences and experience presenting strategic and complex information to high-level decision makers  Excellent interpersonal, customer service, relationship and collaboration skills  Motivated and committed to the Foundation’s mission

Desired Qualifications

 Graduate degree in public health, public administration, social work or related field required  Work experience of at least five years within the field of public health and/or healthcare.  Knowledge of preventive and primary health care preferred  Bilingual in Spanish/English or Creole/English preferred.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office
