LEEMING BAR RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION MEETING Monday 11th September 2017 Leeming Bar Community Hub
(Draft) MINUTES Present: Rab Hastie (RH)(Chair): Richard Moore (RM)(Deputy Chair): Paul Craggs (PC)(Treasurer): Mark Bonney (MB)(Webmaster): Chris Cunnington (CC); Kay Whittaker (KW); David Harris (DH); Helen Cattcliff (HC) Hazel Kirby (HK)(HCA); Sarah Carrick (SC)(Coop)
1 Welcome: RH welcomed all to the meeting and explained that it would be a truncated meeting which must finish at 7.00pm in order to continue with our exhibition and volunteering evening. 2 Apologies: Lizzie Clapham, Alyson King, Jackie Kennedy, Jane Harris. 3 Declarations of interest: None 4 Minutes of the previous meeting: RH asked all to read the minutes of the previous meeting to confirm that they were a true record. All Proposed by – Kay Whittaker Seconded by Chris Cunnington 5 Matters arising: RH explained that he was going to deal with all other business apart from AOB in this slot due to the constraints of finishing by 7.00pm. Truck Parking on Coneygarth Way: As PC was the interviewee on BBC Radio York, RH asked him to up-date the meeting. Apart from confusion on the part of the interviewer as to where the parking was; PC put her right, the interview went well. It seems that the police patrol only addresses the issue on Mondays so further requests from us All and the parish council may be in order. Hambleton Local Plan: DH reported that MP Rishi Sunak had written a very good and comprehensive letter to Hambleton District Council Planning Department objecting to the proposed plan to build a large industrial complex to the east of the village. His support was appreciated. RH, RM and PC have also had sight of the letter. RH offered others the opportunity if they wished. DH said he had spoken to the farmer whose land it was regarding the erection of posters against the proposal. The farmer is in agreement but wishes to remain neutral as he was the one approached to sell even though he doesn’t want to! Blue Sky: RH explained that this was the name of the charity/club run by photographers Ian Watkins and Bill Tetlow. They are currently working with Bedale and Villages Community Forum in promoting local groups and businesses with unusual photography. They produced the photographs on display of the development of the Hub as well as the video being played later. Their materials had cost £65.00 and they had asked for a donation to their charity for their time. As this is likely to be an ongoing, reciprocal arrangement RH proposed giving £50.00 with RM seconding. Discussion of other amounts took place but the decision was unanimously given to donate the £50.00 Summer Event: All RH explained that this had been on and off several times! In the end it went ahead on 3rd September and was very successful. The White Rose kindly gave a donation and provided the bouncy castle free of charge. Thanks to them. Although the meeting agreed this kind of event was about the community and not about making money, the event raised £168.00. Thank you to everyone who helped. Halloween: Although this appears to clash with two local events it was decided to go ahead as it is always popular. It will be in the White Rose. Speed concerns: Because so many of us filled in the on-line forms RH suggested that the system had gone into meltdown! We all got letters saying multiple complaints were not necessary! However, the result is that: Northallerton Road had data logging 2 years ago and has to wait until 2018. Bedale Road will get a data logger. All Leeming Lane will get Police enforcement Leases Road qualifies for Community Speed Watch. 6 Webmasters Report: MB presented the stats for the past two months: New Visitors 69% Returning 31% 51 visitors in total with 65 visits. 61 UK, 1 Spain, 1 USA, 2 Unknown.
