INTRODUCTION Thank you for registering to sell at our NCT Nearly New Toy Sale. To ensure that the sale runs smoothly please read our simple guidelines below. They are designed to ensure the maximum success for everyone involved. If you are no longer able to sell please contact us as soon as possible by emailing [email protected] so that we can assign your number to someone on our waiting list.
DISCLAIMERS Please read the following instructions carefully. By submitting items for sale you are agreeing to all the conditions set out. We try very hard to ensure that nothing goes missing at the sales. However, the NCT will not be held responsible for any items offered for sale which are lost, broken or stolen on the day of the sale. No compensatory payments will be made. All Goods are sold as seen. Any unsold items that are not collected after the sale will be given to charity after 1 week. Any proceeds that remain uncollected after 2 weeks from the sale date will be deemed to have been donated to the NCT, unless pre-arranged with co-ordinator.
GENERAL POINTS To ensure that only good quality items are included in the sale, all boxes of goods will be checked by the NNS team BEFORE they are included in the sale. It is only by ensuring that the standard of items for sale is high that we are able to maintain a good reputation and attract large numbers of buyers. If your toys are battery operated, please make sure they contain new batteries and are fully functioning before the sale. All battery operated items will be tested prior to the sale and any items that are not working will be rejected
HOW DOES THE SALE WORK? Once you have registered online you will receive confirmation and your seller number, this may differ when you receive your labels. Labels will be posted 2 to 3 weeks before the sale. All items for sale need to be labelled, priced and collated by you, as detailed in these guidelines. Items need to be taken to the pre-sale sort at Kingshott School on Friday 17th November between 6.00-7.00pm only. Do NOT arrive early at the school. You will only have to wait. Items are sorted by volunteers on Friday night, ready for the sale on the Saturday morning. During the sale, purchasers take their chosen items to the tills where the bottom half of the labels are removed when the items are paid for. Labels are then sorted into each seller’s envelope and the proceeds for each seller are calculated and checked by three volunteers.. Sellers collect their unsold items and labels from sold items, from Kingshott School on the Saturday afternoon at 3.30pm promptly. Due to a change in the way the NCT is moving to a single bank account to keep costs down you will now be paid by BACs or cheque within 2 to 3 weeks of the sale. We have been doing this for two years now and payment has been within 2 weeks of the sale.
WHAT CAN I SELL? We accept good quality: Toys - games - puzzles - children’s Books - DVDs - bikes - trikes - garden toys - action figures - dolls - dressing up outfits. All items for sale should be clean and in working order. Please only sell items that are of nearly new quality. Battery operated toys must contain working batteries, buyers can then see that the item works properly. Broken/Incomplete items are not acceptable: Any item not compliant with these guidelines will be rejected. It is a criminal offence to sell second-hand goods that are faulty. If in doubt, leave them out!
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED Riding helmets, crash helmets, video tapes, teddy bears, except character soft toys such (e.g. Pooh bear) mains powered electrical items, McDonald toys.
LABELLING ITEMS The labels are in 2 parts and the top half of the label will remain on the item after sale. This is to protect both the seller and buyer and create accountability. These are the only labels to be used. Items without these labels will be rejected. The labels are coloured according to seller number, the colour you have is the only colour you may use. Please return any unused labels. Colours change every sale so they will be of no use to you, whereas we can reissue them. You will be issued with 60 labels (and 5 spares). Please contact [email protected] if you need more labels. Both parts of the label must be completed. Write the price, a brief description of the item and your seller number on both parts of the label. Attach the top part of the label using a safety pin or sellotape to the item. Do not put sellotape on books as they cannot be removed without damaging the item, you may wish to put these items into clear plastic bags and label them, with the labels on the OUTSIDE of the bag, or use masking tape. Items with small parts MUST be secured in bags. Items not packaged securely will be rejected.
PRICES When pricing think (unsentimentally!) about what you would pay for a second hand item. Be realistic and ask yourself: would I buy it? Would I pay that amount? Do I want to see it again.? Price items in multiples of 50p. Items not priced in multiples of 50p will be REJECTED.
COLLATING ITEMS Lay your items in cardboard boxes or fruit trays, Ikea bags or similar. Please label both ends of your tray(s) or bags with your seller number. After the sale your unsold items will be re-sorted into your tray ready for collection.
COMMISSION NCT commission of 30% will be deducted from the proceeds of items under £30. For items over £30 the maximum commission that will be deducted will be £10 per item. A £4.00 registration fee will be deducted when you register to cover labels, postage and administration costs. For this sale we are offering a reduced commission of 25% for those sellers who volunteer on Saturday either during or after the sale. DONATED ITEMS NEW DETAILS Please write your label in red pen if you wish to donate your item to the NCT if it has not sold at the sale.
