Transcript Review Worksheet Endorsement # 30 – Driver and Traffic Safety Education Instructional Level: Grade 9 - 12

The holder is authorized to teach driver and traffic safety education in grades 9-12. A driver and traffic safety education endorsement limited to in-vehicle instruction shall only be issued to individuals who meet content topics 1, 2 and 4b, as well as the Additional Requirements.

In order to qualify for this endorsement, the candidate shall demonstrate knowledge of the following: Content College/ Course # of Course Topic University Number Credits Title In-vehicle instructional techniques. 2. The Zone control system of driving, general traffic safety and emergency driving techniques. 3. Driver and traffic safety education, including methods and materials for teaching driver and traffic safety education administration of a driver and traffic safety program, vehicular law, and insurance and financial responsibility. 4. Alcohol and drugs a. the impact of alcohol and other drugs on the operation of a motor vehicle b. recognition of impairment by alcohol and other drugs. 5. An area of the behavioral sciences such as educational psychology, adolescent psychology, or human development. Additional Requirements A minimum of 18 credits in the endorsement area sought (classroom instruction ONLY) Possess a valid Vermont Motor Vehicles Operator’s license, or a valid operator’s license from an adjacent state provided the person is a legal resident of that state, with at least five years of driving experience while holding a driver’s license. Provide evidence of a model driver safety record by providing a certified DMV copy of Content College/ Course # of Course Topic University Number Credits Title your driver’s license history. Please note Educators who wish to add any additional endorsement or receive the FULL Driver’s Education endorsement will need to provide documentation of having met the Core Teaching Standards for Vermont Educators with general education coursework AND the required 12 consecutive weeks of Student Teaching or an equivalent experience.
