Position Title: Electrician Qualifications: High school graduate preferred. Prior experience in electrical maintenance duties, electrical construction and technical schooling to support required duties. SUMMARY: Perform routine and preventive maintenance required for electrical equipment and components used throughout system. Demonstrate a willingness to cooperate with others and an attitude of respect for promptness and personal service. Demonstrate a willingness to instruct and train others in the care and use of electrical components and equipment. Alert to potential maintenance problems and prepared to repair or recommend appropriate action. Neat and clean in appearance; possess the ability to get along with co-workers, students, staff and the general public.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned):

1. Responsible for routine and preventive maintenance related to all electrical including: fire alarm systems, public address systems, scoreboards and small electronics and equipment. 2. Knowledge & comfort with all voltages, up to 480 volts. 3. Responsible for instructing and assisting helpers. 4. Responsible for minor electrical construction planning, layout and installation. 5. Responsible for minor technology cabling for voice, video, and data construction planning, layout and installation. 6. Responsible for minor repairs and preventative maintenance to electronic equipment and components throughout the system. 7. Responsible for assisting in required maintenance in other trades as needed and as experience and time permits. 8. Responsible for other duties as assigned and required for the successful operations of the Elkhart Community Schools.

Language Skills: Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, regulations, product usage directions, plans, specifications, and procedures manuals. Ability to write recommendations for equipment replacement or procurement. Ability to clearly state to others any work requirements. Ability to clearly communicate with staff on proper care and usage of equipment.

Mathematical skills: Ability to work with simple weights and measures. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in formats such as written, oral, diagram, or schedule. Ability to make reasonable decisions within scope of responsibilities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Must be able to obtain required certificates, licenses, and registrations to successfully perform essential duties. Must have a general knowledge of local and national electrical codes.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to troubleshoot electrical and technology problems, make recommendations, and supervise repair/replacements as appropriate. Knowledge and comfort with all voltages up to 480 volts.
