Software engineer and consultant with experience (since 1985) in software engineering process management, software project management and software development.
1991-Present: Consultant - The Process Group Authorized CMMI SCAMPI appraiser (CMMI development and services models) SEI Certified High Maturity appraiser. Co-author of Making Process Improvement Work - A Concise Action Guide for Software Managers and Practitioners, Addison-Wesley, 2002. Certified Scrum Master (Agile) Process improvement consultant. Co-developer and instructor of a software inspection moderator class. Co-developer and instructor of a software engineering process improvement class. Co-developer and instructor of a software project planning and management class. Instructor of a software requirements engineering class. Instructor of a software subcontract management class.
1988-1991: Software Engineering Process Group Manager - Texas Instruments (TI) Created a software engineering process group for the Texas Instruments (TI) Semiconductor Design Automation Division. The team consisted of four experienced software engineers covering India, England, and USA. The creation of the team included negotiating resources, hiring and training the staff. The group served 150 engineers worldwide. Initiated, coordinated and lead several commercial-sector SEI assessments in India, England and USA. Developed USA improvement action plan. Represented the Semiconductor Division on the corporate TI Software Engineering Process Group (STEP) to help ensure that SEI self-assessment quality was maintained across TI. Conducted sessions on project planning (methods and tools), estimation, risk analysis, and inspection in England, USA and India. This audience consisted of 40 project managers and their teams. Developed a mini-assessment process to monitor software process improvement progress for the division. Carried out mini-assessments in three countries. Participated on the SEI User Working Group to review the initial version of SEI Capability Maturity Model.
1985-1988: Software Design Engineer - TI Developed Integrated Circuit (I.C.) layout tools using Object Oriented programming techniques on the TI Lisp Machine. Participated in the development and release of a prototype database to support an I.C. design system tool suite. Initiated and managed a team of software engineers to create a communications product to transfer I.C. design data between the TI sites worldwide.
