Hello all, THE HEAVENS PARTED AND A RAY OF SUN SHONE THROUGH...

THE BEST WORD FOR MY EMOTIONS WEDNESDAY NIGHT IS CONFLICTED. WHILE STILL VERY VERY PROUD OF THE TEAM, I THOUGHT IT WAS A TOUGH BREAK THAT BECAUSE OF PRE-BRACKETED PLAYOFFS, UNTIMELY BACKACHES, LATE MIDTERMS, AND AS EVER, DOGMATIC JUDGES, JUST ONE OF OUR PAIRS MADE IT TO SPDL FINALS. TRULY, I BELIEVED YOU ALL HAD SUFFICIENT TALENT THAT THREE OR FOUR SHOULD HAVE MADE IT. ADDING TO THE FRUSTRATION IS THAT, HAVING ALREADY PAID FOR OUR ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP IN NATIONAL FORENSIC LEAGUE WITH YOUR DUES MONEY, I GOT WORD LAST WEEK THAT THE REGIONAL TOURNAMENT (NATIONAL QUALIFIER), HELD FOR AT LEAST THE LAST TEN YEARS AT LASALLE HS IN CHELTENHAM ON THE SECOND WEEKEND IN MARCH, HAS BEEN MOVED AND POSTPONED. IT IS NOW AT SOUTHERN LEHIGH HS ON THE 28TH AND 29TH OF MARCH, THE SECOND WEEKEND OF YOUR SPRING BREAK!!

WHILE I WOULD HAVE DRIVEN THOSE INTERESTED UP IN THE SCHOOL VAN (A PROSPECT I NEVER RELISH), AND WHILE YOU CAN RE-COMBINE TEAMS FOR NFL REGIONALS, WE WOULD EITHER HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR MOTEL ROOMS OR RIDE BACK LATE FRIDAY NIGHT AND UP AGAIN EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. THERE IS ALSO A REQUIREMENT OF ONE ADULT JUDGE PER PFD PAIR. I DON'T KNOW WHICH ADULT WAS PREPARED TO SPEND ALL FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY THAT WEEKEND IN SUBURBAN ALLENTOWN, BESIDES ME. LONG STORY SHORT, MY SENSE WAS THAT THE DEBATE CAREERS OF ALL SENIORS BUT LUIGI HAD ENDED.

UNTIL...... (READ BELOW OR SKIP TO THE SMILEY FACE FURTHER DOWN FOR THE UPSHOT)

With a foot of snow or more forecast for the Philadelphia-Washington, DC corridor, the Pennsbury Falcon Invitational has been postponed until February 19-20.

This was not optional for us, and we suspect that many of you would have been told the same thing over the next two days. This is obviously no ones ideal solution and we thank you in advance for helping us to make the transition to two weeks from now. I do hope that everyone who was scheduled to attend will be able to join us in two weeks - and of course, that anyone with a date conflict will now find that this is a free weekend. We do understand if the new date presents too many conflicts and will return to our regular weekend, weather permitting, in 2011.

Tabroom.com has reopened for registration changes, both adds and drops for all events. The new deadline for registration adds is Tuesday, February 16 at 6pm. Deadline for drops without penalty will be Thursday, February 18, at 6pm. We will also re-open the Congress Legislation packet - any school wishing to add legislation to the packet may do so by sending legislation to this address by Sunday, February 6. Any new legislation will be published on Monday - we will not remove legislation as I understand that research has already been done.

Finally, the silver lining in this is that we will be able to use the traditional tournament location at Pennsbury East and West. We thank Carl Grecco and Tom Gushue at Truman High School for their tireless efforts to clear all logistical hurdles with using Truman; if only they were so successful with the weather! Schools registered for the new dates will receive (another) detailed email about the tournament location during the week of the event.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reply to this email or call me at 215-630- 2678. Once again, the tournament will be February 19-20, Friday and Saturday. We hope you will all join us in two weeks!

So this means there is a national qualifier at Carl Grecco's high school in Bensalem on a non- holiday weekend that we can still enter! We don't have to journey to Southern Lehigh, and your debate careers (seniors) don't have to be over. If you are an underclassman you can compete in this as well... You do have to decide by Monday, when Ethan and I are entering information in the NFL website (Phil, I would like you to try and come to 224 after school Monday to learn this process, too). This would be Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th (home Sat. by 6 pm). Do keep in mind we are all going to New Hope to support Luigi and Anthony the Wednesday before. So if you can't/don't want to attempt this, I will fully understand. Let me know before 2:20 on Monday or I will take your answer as a NO. They accept registrations until the 16th, but honestly, I need to plan my own life. I won't hold that weekend open for LM stuff if no pair (again, needn't be a SPDL pair) has committed by Monday 2/8. Best, Mr. M
