T = Topic: Introduces the reader to the topic of the paragraph; restates the prompt in your own words A = Answer: States your answer to the prompt; very specific without explanation P= Proof: Provides Informational facts or evidence to back up your Answer *Must provide source if one is used! E = Elaboration: Explains your reasoning for the Answer; connects the paragraph A = Analysis: Digs deeper into the importance of the argument and takes the elaboration one step further; Interprets, justifies, predicts, compares, etc. WHY is any of this significant? This is the hardest part, but also the most important.

For example – Prompt: In the event of a zombie apocalypse, where would you go to survive? If zombies attack the US, it will be important to head to a smart, safe location. The NC Outer Banks will provide the best place to wait out the zombie apocalypse. The Outer Banks have raised houses, an unlimited supply of food through fishing, and can be cut off from society. The ability to destroy bridges and subsequently remove oneself from the onslaught of merciless zombies will be the most important feature of choosing a safe location. This location offers a higher chance of survival, which is desirable in order for civilization to be able to continue. Rules: - Do not answer the prompt in the Topic sentence - Do not use rhetorical questions. All sentences must be statements. - Forbidden words = I, me, you, we, us, mine, your, ours
