Senior Housing Management
ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY
Policy:
All employees of Senior Housing Management and all related Entities are responsible for good attendance and punctuality. The Company expects employees to report to work on each scheduled workday and to remain at work for all scheduled work hours. Exceptions include illness, other unavoidable circumstances making it impossible to come to or remain at work and prior permission to be absent as given by the employee’s manager or assistant manager. Poor attendance and excessive tardiness are disruptive and place a burden on the Company, the facility and the residents as well as on other employees. Therefore, poor attendance and excessive tardiness may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.
Purpose: To maintain a safe and productive work environment.
Scope: Applies to all employees of Senior Housing Management and all related Entities.
Procedures:
In the rare instances when employees cannot avoid being late to work or are unable to work as scheduled, they should notify the facility as soon as possible before the workday is scheduled to begin. An employee is required to notify the facility Manager or Assistant Manager two hours prior to his or her regular starting time if he or she is incapacitated, ill or otherwise unable to work as scheduled.
The Manager needs to complete SOP607, “Request for Paid Time off or Unpaid Leave” and have the employee sign it when they return. The manager then needs to send a copy of the Request to the accounting office to be processed for any available PTO, if applicable. The original is to be kept in the employee file.
Employees are expected to be ready to work when their shift begins and will be considered late if they arrive more than ten minutes after their scheduled starting time. Excessive tardiness may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Employees who are absent from duty without prior approval or who do not provide a justifiable explanation for their absence may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
