Looking at the Earth Race Central Power Point Game Rules: The class will divide into five groups, usually 4 or 5 students to a group. One student from each group will stand behind the desk or table with a bell in front of them. When the teacher says the definition the first student to ring their bell will give the word that goes with the definition. If they get it correct their team’s car moves one space. If they miss the word the other 4 players can write their answer on a piece of paper. If they get it correct their team’s car will move one space. The player will then rotate and another team member will move up to the bell. This continues until one car reaches the finish line.
The questions are based off of the vocabulary words for the second grade Social Studies curriculum titled “Looking at the Earth”

Continent One of seven main land areas on the Earth. 14 Gulf A large body of ocean water that is partly surrounded . by land. 15. Cardinal The main direction of north, south, east, and west. Rose 18 Equator An imaginary line that divides Earth in half between . north and south. 19 Crop A plant people grow for food or other needs. . 20. Natural Something found in nature that people can use to meet Resource their needs. 21. Technology The use of new inventions in everyday life. 22. Conservation Working to save resources or make them last longer. 23. Fuel A resource, such as oil, that can be burned for heat or energy. 24. Forest A very large area of trees. 25. Tornado A strong, whirling wind that causes great damage to land and buildings. 26. Climate The kind of weather a place has over a long time. 27 Map Scale The part of a map that helps you find distance. . 28. Blizzard A heavy snowstorm. 29. Recycle To use things again. 30. Pollution Anything that makes the air, land, or water dirty.
