PUBLIC LIBRARY UNVEILS NEW COMMEMORATIVE CARDS, FEATURES
September is National Library Card Sign-up Month and the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is celebrating with the unveiling of new commemorative cards and several new features for library customers!
The new cards, which are now being distributed to library users at all 41 Library locations, feature a logo commemorating our National Medal for Museum and Library Service, awarded to the Library earlier this year. The cards also feature a keyfob which customers can add to their key ring for greater convenience.
In addition, every library customer-both new and current-can now create an easy-to-remember username to use at checkout in place of the traditional library card number. Customers should visit https://www.cincinnatilibrary.org/account/update.aspx or contact a staff member to create their new username.
Also coming soon, we’ll have new, self-service library card signup stations, which will begin appearing at branches throughout the coming weeks. New customers can also sign up for a card at http://www.cincinnatilibrary.org/account/application.aspx.
The library is also rolling out a new Pay to Print system at all locations. The new system means value will no longer be stored on the library card or a separate debit card, making it more convenient for our customers to complete their print jobs. Watch for the new system at your location!
Finally, during the month of September, the library is holding a photo contest through our Twitter (https://twitter.com/cincylibrary) and Instagram (http://instagram.com/cincylibrary) accounts! Library users are encouraged to take a creative photo of their library card and post it to Twitter and/or Instagram with the hashtag #getred in order to be eligible for special prize packs from the library and The Friends of the Library, including books and t-shirts!
