Kicking Horse Mountain Resort 2nd Annual – Sun Splash Funk Fest April 9th – 11th 2009
March 25th, 2010, Golden, BC…. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is gearing up to kick off the spring season in style with the Second Annual Sun Splash Funk Fest happening April 9 th – 11th. This action-packed weekend is full of family fun activities and one you do not want to miss! “It is all about the sun, patios, music and good laughs,” says Steve Paccagnan, President and General Manager at Kicking Horse. “The Sun Splash Funk Fest is the best way to finish off your winter season. We are hosting a bunch of great events including 80’s retro days, a snow based mountain bike race, the dummy downhill and our second annual slush cup. We are also happy to partner with Big Rock Brewery, presenting a great line up of musical talent. This is going to be a weekend to remember”. The fun kicks off on Friday April 9th with an 80’s retro day on the mountain. Guests are encouraged to sport their best retro gear with prizes for best costume! On Friday evening make way to the Eagle’s Eye Restaurant for a Brew Master’s Dinner with Big Rock Brewery and an Untapped Musical performance by Shane Philip. Throughout the weekend catch some great live entertainment in the Plaza at the Big Rock Brewery Untapped stage. DJ’s will be spinning the vinyl funk and live bands including Shane Philips and Mocking Shadows. The patio is open from 11:00am to 6:00pm on Friday through Sunday. Saturday will feature some great entertainment in the plaza with the return of two great Kicking Horse Events. The Melt Freeze Cup, a Snow Mountain Bike race will be rolling and sliding under the Catamount Chair at 11:30am, with prizes for the fastest female and male racers. At 2:00pm the Dummy Downhill is set to take centre stage with a celebration of fine construction and total destruction. Public and businesses are encouraged to craft up a snow sliding creation to send down the course and over the jump with points for the best crash and biggest laughs. Family and open classes are available with great prizes from KHMR, Coca-Cola, Rossignol, Wrangler Clothing and Big Rock Brewery. On Sunday, the action continues at 11:30am with a Modified GT snow race under the Catamount Chair, followed by the 2nd Annual Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Slush Cup at 2:00pm. This classic crowd pleaser should not be missed as competitors try to skim across a 70ft pond of water. Don’t forget to wear your costume!
