St. Aidan School Summer Reading List 2016 Grade 4

To help fill those long, lazy days of summer, we are providing you with a summer reading assignment. All students entering Grade 4 must read Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo as one of their summer reading books. Students must bring a copy of Because of Winn-Dixie to school in September. We will study and discuss the book and there will be an assignment after class discussion, so students should read Because of Winn-Dixie carefully before school begins. It is not necessary for the students to write a book report on Because of Winn-Dixie. Students entering Grade 4 in September are asked to fill out the attached Book Bingo sheet following the instructions on the sheet. They are to bring the sheet to class in September. When students have BINGO, they are to write a report for each of the three books on a piece of loose leaf paper as follows: Student Name Title of the Book Author Genre Summary (This should be no longer than one paragraph.) Review (A few sentences telling whether or not the student liked the book.) Several authors and titles are listed below to assist in your selection. Students are not limited to just these titles. They are suggested titles. If students read a book by one of the authors below, they might want to look for other books by that author.
