Illinois Certification Testing System – Physical Education Specialty Test • Physical Education majors got passing scores at or above the state wide average on both the K-12 test (89%) and 6-12 test (98%). On the K-12 test 21 passed and 3 failed and on the 6-12 test 35 passed and 1 failed at EIU in from the Physical Education Department..

On-site teaching in Physical Education Methods Courses • We have continued our on-site classes and now film our students so that they can analyze themselves with the faculty. 24 hours on-site in PED 3400; 36 hours on-site in PED 3610, 3620 and 3630 (combined).

Teaching to culturally diverse student population • Physical Education student must either student teach in a school that is considered culturally diverse or they must spend 40 hours at a culturally diverse school at the end of the student teaching experience.

Changes that have been made based on assessment results:

1. Added PED 2850 to both 6-12 and K-12 Curriculum in order to fully meet all personal fitness goals and state ISBE assessment standards.

2. Added the requirement that each student must hold a current American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid card in order to apply for Physical Education Departmental Approval during Senior year to meet state ISBE assessment standards
