UNITED NATIONS CHILDREN’S FUND Division of Communication Terms of Reference for Consultants and Contractors Contract No:

1) Rationale and context of the assignment. The Internal Communication team in UNICEF is seeking a Multi media design specialist to work on the UNICEF intranet in the SharePoint environment.

2) Scope of Work: The scope is to support the creation of Multi media products and web pages for the UNICEF intranet in the Microsoft SharePoint platform. Further, the role will create animation videos and infographics for the internal communication channels in UNICEF.

3) Responsibilities:

 Graphic Design: create graphic/web design work that drives UNICEF’s internal initiatives. This includes internal communication assets, banners, assets for events, infographics and more.

 Inter-divisional: Work with other divisions within UNICEF to gather knowledge and gain expertise. The incumbent will also be expected to advise the Chief on new technologies that can be duplicated for the internal communication team’s work.

 Data Visualization: creation of various interactive data visualizations for use in UNICEF internally.

 Video Editing: Use data and animation to create compelling internal communication videos.

 Proposes and implements enhancements to improve site availability, reliability, and/or performance.

 Responsible for Features, Web Parts, Templates and other SharePoint related solutions, including vendors’ software or applications. Responsible for intranet-related SharePoint Applications, including Excel.

 Expected to report on the new trends and knowledge in the Design area.

TOTAL CONTRACT VALUE:

5) Duty Station: The consultant/vendor will be based in New York. Expected start date is 01 July 2016.

6) Travel: (if any during length of assignment) Office based assignment, no travel involved

7) Name of Supervisor of Contract and timeframes for reviewing milestones and performance: Abhijit Shanker Chief of Internal Communication Monthly reviews

8) Performance indicators for evaluation of results: (e.g. timeliness, value of services rendered in relation to their costs, etc.) Accuracy, Timeliness, Proactiveness, awareness of latest trends.

9) Qualifications or specialized knowledge/ experience required:

Expertise in web app development with, but not limited, to the following capacities:  Design & SharePoint expertise  PC and Mac platforms’ content management systems  Design software: Adobe Creative Suite, Indesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop  At least 5 years’ experience in designing web pages & data visualisation  Excellent communication skills  Knowledge of UN rules and regulations is a plus

10) Payment Terms: This is a 5-month contract. Payments will be made monthly, on satisfactory completion of assigned work.

UNICEF recourse in case of unsatisfactory performance: Payment will only be made for work satisfactorily completed and accepted by UNICEF.
